    Market closes lower, Brigade Enterprises signs a JDA with Agni Estates & Foundations

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,272.50 (-246.9, -1.1%), BSE Sensex closed at 73,399.78 (-845.1, -1.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,478.75 (-266.8, -1.3%). Market breadth is highly negative. Of the 2,097 stocks traded today, 341 were gainers and 1,721 were losers.

    Indian indices extended their losses from the afternoon session and closed in the red. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, rose 8.2% and closed at 12.5 points. Aster DM Healthcare closed sharply higher after its board approved a special dividend of Rs 118 per share on account of the sale of the GCC business and the redemption of redeemable preference shares issued to the company by Affinity Holdings.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed lower, following the benchmark index. Nifty Bank and Nifty Media closed lower than their Friday close. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Metals & Mining was the worst-performing sector of the day, with a fall of 3.7%.

    Major Asian indices closed in the red amid mixed global cues. European indices traded flat or higher, except for the UK’s FTSE 100 trading in the red. US index futures traded in the green, indicating a positive start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures traded in the red, after closing flat on a volatile day on Thursday.

    • Coromandel International sees a short buildup in its April 25 future series as its open interest rises 9.9% with a put-call ratio of 0.4.

    • IT stocks like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro, and LTIMindtree are falling in trade. All constituents of the broader Nifty IT index are also trading in the red.

    • Mahindra & Mahindra to acquire a 26% stake in its drop-down subsidiary Gelos Solren (an arm of Mahindra Susten) for Rs 40.1 crore. Mahindra Susten plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore in developing a 150 MW hybrid renewable energy project combining solar and wind power.

    • BMI, a division of Fitch Solutions, predicts further increases in copper prices in 2024, driven by concerns over Chinese production cuts, rising demand, and the transition to green energy. Despite a 10% rise since the beginning of the year, copper prices declined to $8,558/tonne in April from $9,089/tonne in March.

    • Brigade Enterprises signs a joint development agreement (JDA) with Agni Estates & Foundations to develop Brigade Tech Boulevard, an office space in Chennai. The project will have a leasable area of 8.4 lakh square feet with an expected capex of Rs 400 crore.

    • Adani Green Energy sells 3,066 million units of solar energy in Q4FY24, up 7% YoY. It also sells 614 million units of wind energy, 43% higher than the previous year.

    • Reliance Power is falling as it completes the transfer of its 45 MW wind power project in Maharashtra to JSW Renewable Energy for Rs 132.4 crore.

    • UBS has a 'Buy' rating on Zomato with an upgraded target price of Rs 250. The brokerage highlights the underappreciated growth potential of quick commerce and margins. It expects the company to achieve a margin estimate of 9% and a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of $10.2 billion for its quick commerce vertical by FY29.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,519.40 (-234.4, -1.0%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,244.90 (-793.3, -1.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,745.50 (-169.7, -0.8%). Of the 2,058 stocks traded today, 648 were on the uptrend, and 1,371 went down.

    Indian indices extended their losses from the afternoon session and closed in the red. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, rose 3.8% and closed at 11.5 points. Metropolis Healthcare closed in the green after its core business revenue grew 15% YoY in Q4FY24, driven by volume growth. Its B2C revenue also rose 18% YoY.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed in the red, taking cues from the benchmark index. Nifty Media and Nifty Energy closed lower than their Wednesday close.  According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Metals & Mining emerged as the top-performing sector of the week, with a rise of 6.6%.

    Major Asian indices closed in the red, except for Japan’s Nikkei 225 index closing in the green. However, European indices traded in the green, amid mixed global cues. US indices futures traded flat or lower, indicating a cautious start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures recovered from their losses at open and traded higher after the likelihood of Iran striking Israel triggered fears of a wider war.

    • Money flow index (MFI) indicates that stocks like Hindustan Zinc, Vedanta, Voltas and Honeywell Automation India are in the overbought zone.

    • Mohnish Pabrai sells a 3.8% stake in Edelweiss Financial Services through the open market. Post-transaction, he holds a 3.2% stake in the company.

    • CLSA maintains its ‘Buy’ rating on PVR Inox with a target price of Rs 2,280. The brokerage notes that average collections for Bollywood and Hollywood films have fallen year-to-date.     Indian indices extended the gains from the afternoon session and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 2.2% and closed at 11.1 points. Tata Motors' global wholesales rose 8% YoY to 3.8 lakh units in Q4FY24. Global passenger vehicle wholesales increased 15% YoY, while commercial vehicle wholesales fell 6% YoY.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,642.75 (-23.6, -0.1%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,683.70 (-58.8, -0.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,790.70 (-28.4, -0.1%). Of the 2,058 stocks traded today, 774 were in the positive territory and 1,254 were negative.

    Indian indices fell from their day highs and closed flat. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, fell 2.2% and closed at 11.4 points. Sterlite Technologies surged and closed in the green after its board approved a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of Rs 1,000 crore, with a floor price of Rs 119 per share.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 closed in the green, while the Nifty Midcap 100 closed lower. Nifty Metal and Nifty Bank closed higher than their Monday close. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Metals & Mining emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of 1.8%.

    Major Asian indices closed in the green, except for India’s BSE Sensex index closing flat. European indices traded flat or lower amid mixed global cues. US index futures traded flat, indicating a cautious start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures also traded flat after closing lower on a volatile day on Monday.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,666.30 (152.6, 0.7%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,742.50 (494.3, 0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,819.10 (104, 0.5%). Of the 2,098 stocks traded today, 899 were gainers and 1,151 were losers.

    Indian indices maintained their gains from the afternoon session and closed at all-time highs. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, rose by 2.4% and closed at 11.6 points. Exide Industries partnered with Hyundai Motor and Kia Corp via its subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions to localise electric vehicle battery production in India.

    Nifty Midcap 100 closed flat, while Nifty Smallcap 100 closed higher following the benchmark index closing flat. Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty closed higher than Friday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, automobile and auto components emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 1.6%.

    Most European indices trade in the green. US indices futures trade flat, indicating a cautious start. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has stated that the US will not accept Chinese imports decimating new industries. While she did not talk about any new restrictions, she stressed the issue of China's surplus industrial capacity surpassing domestic demand.

    • Money flow index (MFI) indicates that stocks like Siemens, City Union Bank, Thermax and ABB India are in the overbought zone.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,514.65 (80, 0.4%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,227.63 (350.8, 0.5%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,664.65 (59.0, 0.3%). Market breadth is in the green. Of the 2,122 stocks traded today, 1,266 were gainers and 827 were losers.

    Indian indices recovered from the day’s low and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 1.7% and closed at 11.3 points. Au Small Finance Bank's Q4FY24 total deposits rose 26% YoY to Rs 87,182 crore and gross advances grew by 25% YoY to Rs 73,999 crore. Its CASA ratio stood at 33% as against 38% in Q4FY23. 

    Nifty Midcap 100 closed flat, while Nifty Smallcap 100 closed higher following the benchmark index closing flat. Nifty IT and Nifty Bank closed higher than Wednesday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, retailing cemerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 2.5%.

    Most European indices trade in the green. US indices futures trade flat, indicating a cautious start. The data released by Hamburg Commercial Bank indicated Eurozone’s Services PMI for March expanded to 51.5 against estimates of 51.1.

    • Kotak Mahindra Bank sees a long buildup in its April 25 future series as its open interest rises 13.8% with a put-call ratio of 0.6.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,453.30 (-8.7, 0.0%), BSE Sensex closed at 73,903.91 (-110.6, -0.2%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,569.75 (77.2, 0.4%). Market breadth is overwhelmingly positive. Of the 2,128 stocks traded today, 1,644 were in the positive territory and 460 were negative.

    Indian indices recovered from the day’s low and closed flat. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 3.6% and closed at 11.6 points. Defence company Bharat Electronics' FY24 turnover increased by 13.7% YoY to Rs 19,700 crore. During the year, the company secured orders worth Rs 35,000 crore, bringing its total order book to around Rs 76,000 crore. 

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed higher, with the benchmark index closing flat. Nifty Metal and Nifty Media closed higher than Monday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, fertilizers emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 1.8%.

    Most European indices trade in the green, except for France’s CAC 40 and Germany’s DAX trading flat. US indices futures trade lower, indicating a negative start. Germany’s manufacturing PMI in March contracted to 41.9 against estimates of 41.6.

    • Relative strength index (RSI) indicates that stocks like Siemens, ABB India, Indus Towers and Carborundum Universal are in the overbought zone.

    • Tata Motors sees three analyst target price upgrades over the past month. PNC Infratech, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, and Granules India see two analyst target price upgrades over the same period.

    • Hindustan Copper's FY24 metal in concentrate production rises 11% YoY to 27,404 tonnes. Its ore production increases by 13% YoY to 3.8 million tonnes.

    • Aluminium and aluminium products, department stores, other telecom services, copper, and industrial gasesindustries rise more than 9% over the past month.

    • According to data released by the finance ministry, India witnessed the second-highest GST collections of around Rs 1.8 lakh crore in March, rising 11.5% YoY. For FY24, collections came in at Rs 20.2 lakh crore, up 11.7% YoY.

    • Ion Exchange rises sharply as it bags a Rs 250.7 crore order from Material Construction, UAE, to engineer, manufacture and commission a desalinating water unit in North Africa.

    • Metal stocks like Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Vedanta, APL Apollo Tubes and Hindustan Zinc rise more than 2% in trade. All constituents of the broader Nifty Metal index are also trading in the green, helping the index touch its all-time high of 8,672.6.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,462 (135.1, 0.6%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,014.55 (363.2, 0.5%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,492.55 (237.4, 1.2%). Market breadth is overwhelmingly positive. Of the 2,142 stocks traded today, 1,890 were gainers and 236 were losers.

    Indian indices maintained the gains from the afternoon session and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 5.8% and closed at 12.1 points. Mahindra & Mahindra's total wholesales for FY24 rose 18.1% YoY to 8.3 lakh units. Passenger vehicle wholesales grew by 28% YoY, while exports fell 23% YoY. 

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed higher, following the benchmark index. Nifty Realty and Nifty Media closed higher than Thursday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, telecommunication equipment emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 6.8%. 

    European markets are closed on account of Easter. US indices futures trade higher, indicating a positive start. Brent crude prices traded above $86.5 per barrel as China’s manufacturing activity for March expanded for the first time in the past six months.
