    • Bayer Cropscience, Westlife Development, Atul, and Supreme Industries are trading with higher volumes as compared to Wednesday.

    • ADF Foods rises after it receives Centre's approval under the PLI scheme for food processing industries. The company will receive a maximum incentive of Rs 61.35 crore for the next four years under the same.

    • IFB Industries is trading with more than 27 times its weekly average trading volume. Emami, CESC, Sumitomo Chemical India, and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare are trading at more than five times their weekly average trading volumes.

    • Spandana Sphoorty Financial falls on the bourses after it reports a loss of Rs 58 crore in Q2FY22 as against a profit of Rs 66.8 crore in Q2FY21 owing to higher provisioning. This delay in the announcement of its Q2 results is due to a late audit

    • Sugar stocks like Balrampur Chini, EID Parry, Shree Renuka Sugars, and Dalmia Bharat Sugar are trading higher after the Centre put a two-year moratorium on loans taken by sugar mills from Sugar Development Fund. This decision by the Centre also includes an additional five years to repay dues after the moratorium ends

    • Axis Bank sells 83 lakh shares 1.1% stake of Orient Green Power Company at an average price of Rs 22.62 in a bulk deal on Wednesday.

    • RBL Bank’s gross advances rise 5% YoY to Rs 59,941 crore at the end of Q3FY22. Wholesale advances increase by 8% while growth of retail advances remains flat. The mix for retail and wholesale advances is nearly 53:47

    • ICICI Securities upgrades target price for Coal India by 51% to Rs 234 maintaining a ‘Buy’ rating for the stock. The company’s Q3FY22 volumes rise 12.8% YoY to 174 million tonnes as demand for coal surges because of lower stocks at most power plants. The brokerage expects global coal prices to rise making Coal India an attractive supplier for domestic consumers.

    • AU Small Finance Bank's loans and advances rise 33% YoY to Rs 40,723 crore at the end of Q3FY22, while total deposits grow 49% YoY to Rs 44,278 crore. CASA deposits grow 164% YoY to Rs 17,268 crore.

    • Westlife Development is trading with more than 11 times its weekly average trading volume. Thermax, Linde India, Hikal, and Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals are trading at more than six times their weekly average trading volumes.

    • GAIL India is rising as it acquires 26% equity stake held by IL&FS Energy Development Company (IEDCL) and IL&FS Financial Services (IFIN) in ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC). Tripura plant is primarily set up to utilize locally produced natural gas, economically, which aids GAIL’s vision of building a clean energy portfolio.     • Delhi High Court dismisses Future Group’s plea of ending arbitration proceedings with Amazon in a court hearing on January 4, 2022. This paves way for Singapore International Arbitration Centre to continue the arbitration proceedings for the ongoing dispute. The tribunal will meet this week to hear expert witnesses on Amazon’s plea of seeking to block the sale of Future Group’s retail assets to Reliance Industries.

    • Marico slips in trade as its Q3FY22 sales volumes are flat owing to weak consumer demand and high inflation, according to the company's pre-result filing. Its flagship product Parachute Coconut Oil particularly registers weak sales growth in Q3

    • CLSA downgrades call on Tata Motors to 'Sell' from 'Buy' with a target price of Rs 408. The analysts believe Tata Motors electric vehicle (EV) business is over valued at $9.1 billion. Since, analysts expect most auto volumes to come from EVs and hybrids, JLR, Tata Motors most profitable brand does not have any launches in the EV segment till 2024 which may hurt its volume growth. However, with increasing profitability of JLR, Tata Motors may see a reduction in consolidated net auto debt in coming quarters.

    • Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone cargo volumes rise 35% YoY during nine months period ending December 2021 to 234.31 million metric tonnes. Mundra Port’s cargo volumes rise 8% to 113 million metric tonnes while non-Mundra port cargo volumes increase by 74%.

    • Airline Stocks like Indigo and Spicejet are falling as West Bengal reduces flights from Delhi and Mumbai to the state to twice a week and suspends the weekly UK flight. A 2.75% hike in aviation turbine fuel prices further add to the woes of these companies.

    • Future Retail defaults first repayment obligation of Rs 3,494.56 crore to its lenders on its restructured loans. The company could not monetize specific businesses to help repay lenders due to an ongoing dispute with Amazon. As a result, Care Ratings downgrades the company's rating for non-convertible debentures, long-term bank facilities, and short-term bank facilities to ‘Care-D’ or default grade.

    • Solara Active Pharma Sciences is trading with more than 19 times its weekly average trading volume. Greaves Cotton, eClerx Services, Tube Investments of India, and Vinati Organics are trading at more than four times their weekly average trading volumes.

    • Avenue Supermarts (D-Mart)rises on the bourses after it registers 22% YoY growth in its standalone revenue at Rs 9,065.02 crore for Q3FY22

    • TVS Motor's December 2021 total wholesales fall 7.7% YoY to 2.5 lakh units. Two-wheeler wholesales fall 8.8% YoY to 2.35 lakh units while three-wheeler wholesales rise 12% YoY to 15,541 units. Total exports rise 10% YoY to 1.03 lakh units with two-wheeler exports rising 9% YoY at 88,629 units.

    • Eicher Motors surges on the bourses after it reports a 7% YoY rise in its Royal Enfield wholesales at 73,739 units for December 2021. Meanwhile its subsidiary VE Commercial Vehicles registers over 25% YoY growth in its wholesales at 6,154 units for the last month.

    • Tata Motors' total December 2021 domestic wholesales rise 24% YoY to 66,307 units. Passenger vehicles wholesales are up by 50% YoY to 35,299 units and total commercial vehicle (CV) wholesales are up by 4% YoY to 34,151 units.

    Market closes lower, Ajanta Pharma's Board to consider a Buy-back on December 28

    • Radico Khaitan rises for the fourth day in a row and touch all-time highs of Rs 1,234 on the bourses. The stock gained nearly 12% in the past one month owing to robust growth outlook for Q3FY22.

    • Mphasis rises as the company sets up a joint venture, Mrald, with Ardonagh Service. The 51:49 joint venture's aims at application development and maintenance, with the aim to expand in insurance operations and technologies.

    • Axis Direct maintains ‘Buy’ on Welspun India with a target price upside of 23% to Rs 173, as the new segment of flooring products will be crucial in driving growth in H2FY22. With rising demand for home comfort products, the company's market share in the US is up to 20%. The brokerage expects revenue growth up to 19% CAGR over FY22-FY24.

    • Hero MotoCorp rises as the company announces price hikes of upto Rs 2,000 on its motorcycles and scooters effective January 4, 2022 to offset the impact of high commodity prices.

    • Ajanta Pharma surges in trade as its Board mulls a buy-back of equity shares in the board meeting to be held on December 28

    • Sharda Cropchem is trading with more than 22 times its weekly average trading volumes. Johnson Controls, United Breweries, HCL Technologies, and Caplin Point Laboratories are trading with more than three times their weekly average trading volumes.

    • Tech stocks like Infosys, Birlasoft, and Tech Mahindra rise for the fourth day in a row and touch all-time highs on the bourses. The continuous rise is owing to the robust growth outlook for FY22 given by IT giant Accenture.

    • GAIL approves an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share. The total dividend outgo for the company will be Rs 1,760.7 crore out of which Government of India will receive Rs 913.8 crore in its kitty. The record date is December 31, 2021

    • Data Patterns’ shares list at 47% premium to the issue price of Rs 585 on the bourses after getting bids for 120X of total shares on offer.

    • Adani Enterprises forms a new arm, Adani Data Networks, for Rs 2.5 crore to provide domestic and international network connectivity services and develop optical fiber infrastructure.

    • L&T Finance signs an agreement to sell its mutual fund business, L&T Investment Management, by selling 100% equity shares, to HSBC AMC for Rs 3,191 crore. This divestment decision stems from L&T Finance’s strategy of strengthening its balance sheet. The proposed transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

    • Markets are trading on a low note. Nifty 50 was trading at 16,943.50 (-129.1, -0.8%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 56,970.51 (-344.8, -0.6%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 14627.45 (-124, -0.8%)

    • Market breadth is moving down. Of the 1,818 stocks traded today, 575 were gainers and 1,205 were losers.

    Largecap and midcap gainers today include Ajanta Pharma Ltd. (2,122.70, 3.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (1,265.20, 3.08%) and Indian Overseas Bank (20.80, 2.97%).

    Downers:

    Largecap and midcap losers today include L&T Finance Holdings Ltd. (76.90, -6.90%), Biocon Ltd. (354.45, -5.32%) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (3,046.20, -3.68%).
