    Market trades lower, Solar Industries India wins an export order worth Rs 455 crore

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,332.65 (-160.9, -0.7%), BSE Sensex closed at 73,502.64 (-616.8, -0.8%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,288.75 (-146.1, -0.7%). Market breadth is moving down. Of the 2,115 stocks traded today, 308 were on the uptrend, and 1,780 went down.

    Indian indices extended the losses from the afternoon session and closed in the red. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, rose by 2.9% and closed at 14 points. REC signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to invest Rs 20,000 crore per annum in power and non-power infrastructure segments. The NBFC will invest this amount for the next six years, taking its total investment in the state to Rs 1.2 lakh crore by 2023.

    Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 closed lower following the benchmark index. Nifty Healthcare closed higher than Thursday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, retailing emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 0.6%. 

    Most European indices trade in the red. US indices futures trade lower, indicating a negative start. On Thursday, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said it would be appropriate to talk about interest rate cuts only after confirmation that inflation has been under control. The US CPI inflation data for February, due on Tuesday, is expected to show a 0.4% increase.

    • Money flow index (MFI) indicates that stocks like Godfrey Phillips India, Tata Chemicals, Tata Investment Corp and Rallis India are in the overbought zone.

    • Solar Industries India wins an export order worth Rs 455 crore for supplying items to be used in defence products over the next two years.

    • Alembic Pharmaceuticals is falling as the US FDA concludes its inspection of the company's oncology formulation facility at Panelav with four observations.

    • NBCC (India)'s arm HSCC (India) wins multiple construction orders worth Rs 367.9 crore from Medical Education & Ayush, Maharashtra, and Power Grid Corp India.

    • REC is rising as it reportedly signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Rajasthan to invest Rs 20,000 crore per annum in power and non-power infrastructure segments. The NBFC will invest this amount for the next six years, taking its total investment in the state to Rs 1.2 lakh crore by 2023.

    • Gopal Snacks' Rs 650 lakh IPO gets bids for 9.0X the available 1.2 crore shares on offer on the third day of bidding. The retail investor quota gets bids for 4.0X the available 59.4 lakh shares on offer.

    • PNC Infratech bags an order worth Rs 1,174 crore from MP Road Development Corp to construct 40.9 km of the Western Bhopal bypass.

    • Coal India signs an agreement with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RRVUNL) to explore opportunities for securing power supply in Rajasthan. Among the five projects identified, the company's main goal will be to investigate the viability of establishing 4,100 MW of projects through a joint venture company.

    • State Bank of India falls as the Supreme Court dismisses its extension plea and directs the bank to disclose electoral bond details by March 12.

    • Media stocks like Sun TV Network, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, PVR Inox, Network18 Media & Investment and Saregama India are falling in trade. All constituents of the broader Nifty Media index are also trading in the red, causing it to fall more than 2%.

    • Rail Vikas Nigam rises sharply as it bags four orders worth Rs 2,092.3 crore from different clients. The largest order, worth Rs 888.6 crore, involves developing power distribution infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh. The second largest, worth Rs 543 crore, is for the construction of five elevated metro stations in Indore.

    • CLSA maintains its 'Outperform' rating on Maruti Suzuki India with an upgraded target price of Rs 12,890. The brokerage expects the firm's market share to increase and the passenger vehicle segment to revive in FY26. It also foresees a rise in the share of CNG vehicles.

    • Power Grid Corp signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RRVPNL) to form a joint venture (JV) for the development of an Intra State Transmission System. The JV will undertake projects worth up to Rs 10,000 crore.

    • Reports suggest that around 2.6 crore shares (6.7% equity) of InterGlobe Aviation, amounting to Rs 7,813 crore, change hands in a large deal. Its promoters are the likely sellers.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,493.55 (19.5, 0.1%), BSE Sensex closed at 74,119.39 (33.4, 0.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,434.80 (55.3, 0.3%). Of the 2,067 stocks traded today, 1,242 showed gains, and 795 showed losses.

    Indian indices closed flat after switching between losses and gains throughout the day. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, fell 4.8% and closed at 13.6 points. Tata Motors closed higher after it increased the prices of all its commercial vehicles by 2%, effective April 1. 

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed in the green, despite the benchmark index closing flat. Nifty Media and Nifty Metal closed higher than their Wednesday close.  According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Hardware Technology & Equipment emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of 3.5%.

    Major European indices traded mixed, in line with the Asian indices. US index futures traded flat, indicating a cautious start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures trade in the red after closing 1.1% higher on a volatile day on Wednesday.

    • Relative strength index (RSI) indicates that stocks like Tata Investment Corp, Godfrey Phillips India, Tata Chemicals and Tata Motors are in the overbought zone.

    • Housing and Urban Development Corp rises sharply as it signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution to provide credit up to Rs 5,000 crore. The credit is for a feeder-level solarisation scheme under the PM-KUSUM Scheme.

    • Tata Motors is rising as it increases the prices of all its commercial vehicles by 2%, effective April 1. The company says that this hike is to offset the residual impacts of past inflation, and it will be applied across all models and variations.

    • Ahluwalia Contracts bags three orders worth Rs 339 crore, including a Rs 174 crore contract from CINDA Engineering, a Rs 90 crore project from Bird Hotel Jewar, and a Rs 75 crore order from Ritnand Balved Education Foundation.

    • Metal stocks like Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) are rising in trade. The broader sectoral indices, Nifty Metal and BSE Metal, are also trading in the green.

    • The Centre reportedly extends its FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing Electric Vehicles) scheme by four months to avoid any disruption in the EV industry, providing relief to electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturers.     Indian indices rose from the day’s low and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 0.5% and closed at 14.3 points. NLC India’s arm, NLC India Green Energy, bags an order from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) to supply 600 MW of solar power at Khavda Solar Park, Gujarat.

    • Realty stocks like Swan Energy, Macrotech Developers, Sobha and Brigade Enterprises fall more than 4% in trade. All constituents of the broader Nifty Realty index are also trading in the red, causing it to plunge more than 2%.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,356.30 (-49.3, -0.2%), BSE Sensex closed at 73,677.13 (-195.2, -0.3%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,382 (-50.1, -0.2%). Market breadth is highly negative. Of the 2,065 stocks traded today, 582 were gainers and 1,457 were losers.

    Indian indices recovered from their day lows but still closed in the red. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, fell 3.6% and closed at 14.4 points. India’s Services PMI declines to 60.6 in February from 61.8 in January due to a slowdown in new orders and output. This marks the 31st consecutive month the PMI has stayed above the 50 mark, indicating an expansion in the sector.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed in the red, taking cues from the benchmark index. Nifty Bank and Nifty Energy closed higher than their Monday close. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Telecom Services emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of 2.1%.

    Major Asian indices closed lower, with the Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closing deep in the red. European indices trade lower amid weak global cues. US index futures trade in the red, indicating a negative start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures traded in the red after closing 0.75 lower on Monday.

    Nifty 50 closed at 22,405.60 (27.2, 0.1%), BSE Sensex closed at 73,872.29 (66.1, 0.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,432.05 (10.7, 0.1%). Market breadth is highly negative. Of the 2,095 stocks traded today, 612 showed gains, and 1,453 showed losses.

    Indian indices maintained the gains from the afternoon session and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 0.5% and closed at 14.9 points. According to the Vahan website, India’s electric two-wheeler sales in February increased by 24% YoY to 81,963 units. Ola maintained the highest market share for the month with 41.1% share, followed by TVS Motors at 17.7%.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 closed in the red, while Nifty Midcap 100 closed higher following the benchmark index. Nifty Energy and Nifty Infra closed higher than Friday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, oil & gas emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 1.4%. 

    Most European indices trade flat except for England’s FTSE 100 index trading lower. US indices futures trade lower, indicating a negative start. Japan’s capital expenditure increased by 16.4% in Q4 2023. This would upgrade the GDP growth to positive against the provisional data indicating GDP contraction in Q4 2023.

    • Relative strength index (RSI) indicates that stocks like Tata Investment Corp, Data Patterns (India), Siemens and Havells India are in the overbought zone.

    • PSE stocks like Bharat Heavy Electricals, Oil India, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and GAIL (India) are rising in trade. The broader sectoral index, Nifty PSE, is also trading in the green.

    • MOIL surges as its manganese ore production rises by 15% YoY to 1.5 lakh tonnes in February 2024. This helps its sales to increase by 18% YoY to 1.6 lakh tonnes during the month.

    • CLSA downgrades its rating on JSW Steel and Tata Steel to ‘Sell’ and maintains its ‘Underperform’ rating on Jindal Steel & Power.     Nifty 50 closed at 22,338.75 (356.0, 1.6%) , BSE Sensex closed at 73745.35 (1,245.1, 1.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,349.80 (259.8, 1.3%). Of the 2,054 stocks traded today, 1,313 showed gains, and 712 showed losses.

    Indian indices extended their gains from the open and closed in the green, with the Nifty 50 and Sensex closing at their all-time highs. The Indian volatility index, Nifty VIX, fell 2.1% and closed at 15.2 points. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories closed in the red after its US subsidiary was sued by Walgreen, Kroger Specialty Pharmacy, and CVS Pharmacy. The lawsuit accused them of limiting competition and monopolizing the Revlimid market through patent settlements.

    Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 closed in the green, following the benchmark index. Nifty Energy and Nifty Bank closed higher than their Thursday close. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, Metals & Mining emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of 2.7%.

    Major Asian indices closed in the green amid positive global cues. European indices traded in the higher, tracking the Asian indices. US index futures traded in the green, indicating a positive start to the trading session. Brent crude oil futures traded higher after closing in the red on a volatile day of trade on Thursday.

    • Steel Authority of India (SAIL) sees a long buildup in its March 28 future series as its open interest rises 52.9% with a put-call ratio of 0.5.

    • TVS Motor’s wholesales rise 33% YoY to 3.7 lakh units in February. Two-wheeler wholesales increase 34% YoY, while three-wheeler wholesales go up by 16% YoY. Meanwhile, exports jump 85% YoY.

    • Dr. Reddy's Laboratories falls as it and its US subsidiary are sued by Walgreen, Kroger Specialty Pharmacy, and CVS Pharmacy. The lawsuit accuses them of limiting competition and monopolizing the Revlimid market through patent settlements.

    • Defence, construction & engineering, and plastic productsindustries rise more than 3.5% in the past week.

    Nifty 50 closed at 21,982.80 (31.7, 0.1%), BSE Sensex closed at 72,500.30 (195.4, 0.3%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 20,090.05 (69.7, 0.4%). Market breadth is horizontal. Of the 2,043 stocks traded today, 1,034 were in the positive territory and 974 were negative.

    Indian indices extended the gains from the afternoon session and closed in the green. The volatility index, Nifty VIX, dropped by 4.6% and closed at 15.6 points. Coal India is set to form a joint venture (JV) company with Bharat Heavy Electricals to engage in the coal to chemicals business. Coal India will hold a 51% stake in the Rs 11,700 crore JV.

    Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 closed higher following the benchmark index. Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Metal closed higher than Wednesday’s closing level. According to Trendlyne’s sector dashboard, commercial supplies & services emerged as the top-performing sector of the day, with a rise of over 1.8%. 

    Most European indices trade in the green except for Switzerland’s SMI index trading lower. US indices futures trade lower, indicating a negative start. The CPI inflation for the Eurozone in February increased by 2.5% YoY against 2.8% growth in January.

    • Money flow index (MFI) indicates that stocks like Zydus Lifesciences, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, PB Fintech and Havells India are in the overbought zone.

    • Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals is falling as Sanjay Varma resigns as CEO and MD of the company with effect from February 28. The board has appointed Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath as Managing Director.

    • Adani Enterprises is rising as its arm Adani Airport Holdings signs a joint venture and share purchase agreement for the acquisition of a 50% stake in Semolina Kitchens.
