Market trades flat, PTC Ind's arm bags a multi-million pound contract from Coolbrook

Nifty 50 was trading at 24,829.15 (-7.2, 0.0%), BSE Sensex was trading at 81,016.84 (33.5, 0.0%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 22,957.70 (29.4, 0.1%). Market breadth is in the green. Of the 2,541 stocks traded today, 1,527 were gainers and 957 were losers.

Nifty 50 opens lower, after dropping 76.8 points in the pre-opening session. Indian indices closed in the green on Wednesday. FIIs sold shares worth Rs 1,605.2 crore, while DIIs bought Rs 2,916.1 crore in Indian equities on the same day.

Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 open higher. Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Media open in the red, tracking the benchmark index. Nifty IT opens flat, despite the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index closing 0.4% in the green on Thursday. 

European indices closed mixed on Thursday. Major Asian indices are trading with varied trends. US indices closed mixed on Thursday, with the Dow Jones closing 0.2% higher and the S&P 500 closing flat, as investors anticipate a lengthy US Government shutdown. Blackrock-owned GIP reportedly nears a $38 billion deal to acquire utility group AES.

  • Ashoka Buildcon acquires a majority stake in Jaora Nayagaon Toll Road Co (JTCL) for Rs 166.6 crore. The deal consolidates the company and its group's investments in JTCL and offers an exit to investors.

  • Larsen & Toubro rises as its buildings & factories (B&F) business bags an order worth Rs 5,000-10,000 crore to set up an IT park in Bengaluru with a development area of 59 lakh sq. ft.

  • John Cockerill surges to its all-time high of Rs 6,569.9 as it bags an order from Godavari Power and Ispat to set up a 6-Hi reversible cold rolling mill (CRM) with an annual capacity of 3 lakh tonnes.

  • PC Jeweller surges as its Q2FY26 revenue rises 63% YoY, supported by festive demand. The company also reduces its outstanding bank debt by about 23% during the quarter.

  • PTC Industries rises sharply as its subsidiary, Trac Precision Solutions, bags a multi-million pound contract from Coolbrook to supply critical machined and cast components for its RotoDynamic Heater (RDH).

  • Goldman Sachs turns bullish on India’s aerospace and defence sector, favouring private players over PSUs. The brokerage highlights that India is raising its defence export target to Rs 50,000 crore by FY29, up from Rs 23,600 crore last year. Its top buy picks include Solar Industries, Bharat Electronics, Data Patterns, and PTC Industries, while it rates Bharat Dynamics as a 'Sell'.

  • TVS Motor's total wholesales grow 12% YoY to 5.4 lakh units in September, driven by an 11% YoY increase in two-wheelers and a 10% YoY growth in international business.

  • Sammaan Capital falls sharply as it receives an open offer from Avenir Investment RSC to acquire a 43.5% stake in the company for a consideration of $1 billion (~Rs 8,850 crore).

  • Jinkushal Industries' shares debut on the bourses at a 3.3% premium to the issue price of Rs 121. The Rs 116.2 crore IPO received bids for 65.1 times the total shares on offer.

  • Waaree Energies gains over 3% after its board approves major capacity expansions across battery, electrolyser, and inverter segments. It plans to boost its Lithium-ion cell and BESS (battery energy storage system) plant capacity from 3.5 GWh (gigawatt hour) to 20 GWh, with a fresh capex of Rs 8,000 crore. This brings the company's total additional capex to Rs 8,175 crore.

  • TruAlt Bioenergy's shares debut on the bourses at a 10% premium to the issue price of Rs 496. The Rs 839.3 crore IPO received bids for 71.9 times the total shares on offer.

  • Tata Motors is rising as its total passenger vehicle sales grow 47% YoY to 60,907 units in September, driven by the GST rate cut and higher demand during the Navratri festival. Its total commercial vehicle sales increase 19%.

  • V-Mart Retail is rising sharply as its Q2FY26 revenue jumps 22% YoY to Rs 807 crore, driven by improvements in same-store sales growth (SSSG) and new store additions.

  • Nuvama maintains a 'Buy' rating on Amara Raja Energy & Mobility with a target price of Rs 1,120. The brokerage expects two-wheeler aftermarket demand to grow by 6–7% and passenger vehicle demand by 10–11% in FY26. It projects EBITDA margins to reach 13% in Q4FY26 and 14% in FY27. Amara Raja’s lead acid battery (LAB) business is expected to outpace industry growth by 3–5% through market share gains and higher exports.

  • Hero MotoCorp's monthly wholesales grow 7.9% YoY to 6.9 lakh units in September due to higher motorcycle and scooter sales and domestic business. Exports surge by 94.8% YoY to 39,638 units during the month.

  • Nuvama Wealth Management rises sharply as it receives approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to set up its mutual fund business and act as a sponsor for Nuvama Mutual Fund.

  • Tata Power is rising as its subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy, signs an agreement with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to set up an 80 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy project at Rs 1,200 crore.

  • Maruti Suzuki India's total wholesales rise 2.7% YoY to 1.9 lakh units in September, driven by a 52.2% increase in exports. However, total domestic passenger vehicle sales decline 8.4%.

  • Nifty 50 was trading at 24,781.85 (-54.5, -0.2%), BSE Sensex was trading at 80,684.14 (-299.2, -0.4%), while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 22,906.90 (-21.4, -0.1%).

  • Market breadth is in the green. Of the 2,184 stocks traded today, 1,388 were on the uptick, and 734 were down.
