    Markets close higher, PNB Housing falls as SEBI halts Carlyle deal

    Nifty 50 closed at 15,748.60 (65.3, 0.4%) , BSE Sensex closed at 52,574.46 (230.0, 0.4%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 13,457.15 (70.6, 0.5%)

    Market breadth is in the green. Of the 1,789 stocks traded today, 1,099 were in the positive territory and 667 were negative.

    • eClerx Services, APL Apollo Tubes, V Mart Retail and Grindwell Norton are trading with higher delivery volumes compared to Friday.

    • Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone's promoters purchase nearly 36 lakh shares worth Rs 238 crore via two insider trades reported on Friday and Monday. This is the largest acquisition of shares by promoters in 2021. Last week, the stock's price dropped by 16%.

    • Central bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank hit the upper circuit after reports suggest that the central government has shortlisted them for divestment. The center might sell a 51% sale in the banks as part of the first phase of the process.

    • Axis Securities maintains a ‘Buy’ rating on Navin Fluorine International with a target price upside of 17%, citing rise in demand for fluorochemicals in agro and pharma industries aided by rise in demand for cold storage and climate control systems.

    • HDFC Securities maintains a 'Reduce' rating on LIC Housing Finance as the mortgage lender's non-core segments' contribution to loan growth is rising. The brokerages states this adds a risk to its asset quality.

    • Bandhan Bank trades higher after reports suggest that the Assam Government will sign an agreement with microfinance institutions in the state to repay loans of highly stressed borrowers.

    • ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund lowers its stake in Bajaj Consumer by 0.14%, selling 2 lakh shares via an insider trade. It now holds 5.9% of the consumer goods company.

    • Centrum Capital hits a new 52-week high after the company receives an “in-principle” approval from the RBI to set up a Small Finance Bank for the revival of the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank.

    • The Vanguard Group, via its emerging markets stock index fund series, acquired 3.5 lakh shares (0.7% stake) of Computer Age Management Services for Rs 96.9 crore via a bulk deal on Friday.

    • Adani Green Energy's promoters acquire 85 lakh shares for over Rs 100 crore across six insider trades between June 11-19. During this time, the stock declined by 17%.

    • PNB Housing Finance hits the lower circuit after SEBI halts its Rs 4,000 crore fundraising plan which included Carlyle Group. SEBI wants the company to undertake the valuation exercise according to legal provisions.

    • NTPC's Q4 profits nearly triples YoY to Rs 4,541.8 crore due to a tax write-back of Rs 1,889 crore, revenues remain flat at Rs 31,687.2 crore.

    • Markets fell in early trading. Nifty 50 was trading at 15,576.80 (-106.6, -0.7%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 52,005.07 (-339.4, -0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 13,301.15 (-85.4, -0.6%).

    • Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1,702 stocks traded today, 634 were on the uptrend, and 1,024 went down.
