Asian markets closed mixed. European markets and US index futures traded with varied trends. Investors await the US CPI data for July, due Wednesday, for cues on inflation and the Fed’s next rate move. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil futures traded higher as hopes of a quick reopening of the Strait of Hormuz weakened after Iran set fresh conditions for a deal. Iran reportedly demanded a permanent halt to the war, an end to the naval blockade, removal of sanctions and unfreezing of its assets.
