  • Motilal Oswal is a BUY on ICICI Bank, citing a Q1 performance in line with expectations, and higher provisions from money gained from stake sales. 

  • Investor Mohnish Pabrai has sold over 1.89 million shares (over 2.2%) in Kaveri Seed Company via an SAST transaction. And Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has sold 200,000 shares in Escorts via an SAST transaciton. 

  • Large number of share sales from corporate insiders in HDFC Bank - including from Managing Director Aditya Puri, who sold over 7.4 million shares.

  • Tata Motors said JLR faces uncertainties in the economic environment. JLR's struggles include the fact that much of its market is in Europe, and the British made car may have trouble outside Covid in accessing customers, due to Brexit. 

  • Reliance Industries continues to rise, surpassing Exxon as the world's second most valuable energy firm, with its market capitalization now crossing Rs. 14 trillion. 

  • Elgi Equipments Chief Financial Officer Ragunathan Gunabooshanam has resigned. The company says it will be looking for and appointing a new CFO.

  • Mastek Limited saw a Golden Crossover today.

  • Asian Paints delivered a disappointing Q1FY21 result, with net profit falling 65% YoY and revenue declining 43% YoY.  

  • Markets closed lower on Friday, although the major indices pared losses by late afternoon. Nifty 50 closed at 11194.15 (-21.3, -0.2%) , BSE Sensex closed at 38128.90 (-11.6, -0.0%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 9085.95 (-28.1, -0.3%). Market breadth is overwhelmingly negative.   • Markets are trending lower as tensions between US and China rise again, with China closing the US embassy in Chengdu after the US ordered the closure of the Chinese embassy in Houston. US officials say that police and firefighters found Chinese officials burning embassy documents in steel drums after the closure was announced. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Chinese agents have been identified attempting to steal industry and state secrets from the US. 

  • Sun Pharma is up today after its US arm Taro Pharmaceuticals resolved the antitrust cases the company was embroiled in.

  • Chem company Deepak Nitrite hits a fresh year high today ahead of its Q1FY21 results.

  • Axis Direct is a BUY on Can Fin Homes with a target of Rs. 424.

  • Biocon is lower today after the company posted a decline in net profit YoY in its Q1FY21 results.

  • Markets opened on a low note. Nifty 50 was trading at 11157.90 (-57.6, -0.5%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 37894.68 (-245.8, -0.6%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 9081.20 (-32.9, -0.4%). Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1471 stocks traded today, 564 were on the uptrend, and 843 went down.
