Markets close higher, Morgan Stanley bullish on Jubilant Foodworks

The markets closed on an upbeat note today. Nifty 50 closed at 9287.80 (82.2, 0.9%) , BSE Sensex closed at 31685.75 (232.2, 0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 7589.20 (66.2, 0.9%)

Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1612 stocks traded today, 673 were on the uptick, and 847 were down.

  • Morgan Stanley is optimistic on the Indian franchisee for Domino's Pizza, Jubilant FoodWorks, initiating coverage with a target price of Rs 1,900. Analysts at MS think that Juibilant will benefit from changing consumer spending behavior post pandemic. 

  • Kansai Nerolac, Adani Enterprises, Persistent Systems posted results today. All three stocks saw share prices close higher, with Persistent Systems seeing a big jump after the company's results. 

  • Motilal Oswal is a BUY on Au Small Finance Bank with a lower target price.

  • Varun Beverages rises after its Q1 results, with the company seeing revenue and net profit growth by controlling costs. 

  • JB Chemical and Pharma is among stocks hitting a new year high on news reports that the company is an acquisition target for at least four global PE firms. 

  • Markets turn green after an early decline, with bank stocks seeing a revival in share price. 

  • Markets fell in early trading. Nifty 50 was trading at 9142.40 (-63.2, -0.7%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 31242.77 (-210.7, -0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 7473.05 (-50, -0.7%). Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1402 stocks traded today, 475 were gainers and 834 were losers.

Largecap and midcap gainers today include RBL Bank Ltd. (132.10, 7.57%), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. (172.15, 7.23%) and Oberoi Realty Ltd. (337.55, 7.06%).

Downers:

Largecap and midcap losers today include ITC Ltd. (163.90, -5.75%), Bharti Infratel Ltd. (160.90, -5.69%) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (202.50, -5.64%).
