LIVE: Markets end lower as RBI keeps rates unchanged

Nifty 50 closed at 12005.35 (-37.9, -0.3%) , BSE Sensex closed at 40779.59 (-70.7, -0.2%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 9748.80 (-33.3, -0.3%). Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1650 stocks traded today, 675 showed gains, and 877 showed losses.

HUDCO share price has declined sharply today after the company's two borrowing agencies defaulted in repayment of their dues. The default amount was Rs 8,746.06 lakh against the principal outstanding of Rs 86,940.75 lakh.
The RBI Monetary Policy Committee unexpectedly kept the policy rates unchanged while retaining an accommodative stance towards growth.
