Upbeat trading today. Nifty 50 closed at 17166.90 (183.7, 1.1%) , BSE Sensex closed at 57,684.79 (619.9, 1.1%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 14,784.70 (136.4, 0.9%)

Market breadth is in the green. Of the 1,817 stocks traded today, 1,053 were on the uptrend, and 727 went down.

  • Grindwell Norton, Bayer Cropscience, Solar Industries India and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals are trading with higher delivery volumes as compared to Tuesday

  • Maruti Suzuki expects its December production at its Haryana and Suzuki's Gujarat plants to be hit by 15-20% due to shortage of semiconductor chips.

  • Escorts November wholesales fall 30% YoY to 7,116 units as domestic tractor sales fall 30% to 6,492 units. The delayed harvest of kharif crops owing to late monsoon rains this year impacted demand for its products

  • Star Health and Allied Insurance Company’s Rs 7,249-crore IPO gets bids for 15% of the available 4.49 crore shares on offer on the second day of bidding. Retail investors bid for over 79% of their quota of 45 lakh shares. The offer comprises a fresh issue of Rs 2,000 crore and an offer for sale of upto Rs 5,249 crore

  • Bajaj Auto's Novemeber wholesales fall 10% YoY to 3,79,276 units. Two-wheeler wholesales fell 23% to 1,49,953 units and three-wheeler 10% to 40,803 units.

  • National Fertilisers is trading with more than five times its weekly average trading volume. Ingersoll-Rand and Spandana Sphoorty Financial are trading at more than four times their weekly average trading volumes.

  • Tega Industries raises Rs 186 crore from from the anchor investors at Rs 453 per share ahead of its IPO today. The investors include Goldman Sachs Funds, Ashoka India Equity Investment Trust Plc, Kuber India Fund, SBI Mutual Fund (MF), ICICI Prudential, among others.

  • Fertiliser stocks like Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, Chambal Fertilsers & Chemicals, National Fertilizers and Madras Fertilizers surge in trade. Reports suggest the government will double FY22 fertiliser subsidy to Rs 1.55 lakh crore to avoid shortages amid a sharp rise in global prices.

  • Integrated Core Strategies' Asia Fund sells 3.28 crore shares or 1% stake in Tata Power at an average price of Rs 216.48

  • PB Fintech's arm Docprime to invest an additional Rs 10.8 crore in Visit Health, a health care and wellness firm. This is in addition to its Rs 56.1 crore investment in October 2021. After the latest transaction, Docprime will hold 30.46% in Visit Health on a fully diluted basis.

  • Integrated Core Strategies' Asia Fund sells 16.21 lakh shares or 1% stake in MindTree at an average price of Rs 4,318.8

  • NMDC slashes the prices of lump ore by Rs 750 to Rs 5,200 per tonne and fines by Rs 200 to Rs 4,560 per tonne. This is likely to impact the realisations of the iron ore producer

Largecap and midcap losers today include Cipla Ltd. (928.15, -4.44%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (501.45, -4.27%) and Alkem Laboratories Ltd. (3440.90, -4.25%).
