LIVE: Markets close flat, Tata Power rises post Q1 results

Markets closed largely flat today after early gains. Nifty 50 closed at 11300.45 (-8.0, -0.1%) , BSE Sensex closed at 38310.49 (-59.1, -0.2%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 9307.85 (23.1, 0.3%)

Market breadth is in the green. Of the 1674 stocks traded today, 939 were in the positive territory and 656 were negative.
The Enforcement Directorate has reportedly written to the State Bank of India to freeze nine accounts, including that of J K Tyre in relation to a PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) investigation.
Tata Power gains after Q1 results. The company maintained strong cash generation during the quarter due to progress in collections, and tighter control over working capital
Deepak Nitrite management says that it managed to either maintain or increase profit margins in all products except the intermediate and finished category. The company says it is seeing favorable demand trends, as buyers are looking for a "China + 1" derisking strategy.
EClerx jumps on Q1FY21 result performance, with share price up 20% today. CFO Rohitash Gupta noted that Q1 was "the most challenging quarter for the BPM business" in the company's history.
Alkyl Amines, Gujarat Gas hit fresh year highs today.
Markets opened higher. Nifty 50 was trading at 11353.90 (45.5, 0.4%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 38481.27 (111.6, 0.3%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 9331.55 (46.8, 0.5%). Market breadth is ticking up strongly. Of the 1525 stocks traded today, 1116 were on the uptick, and 332 were down.
Axis Direct is a BUY on KEC International, citing a strong recovery for the company in demand post lockdown.
