Cochin Shipyard delivers first anti-submarine warfare craft to Indian Navy

Indian shipbuilding and repair company Cochin Shipyard delivered 'Mahe', the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW SWCs) that were indigenously designed and built by the company, to the Indian Navy on Thursday.According to Cochin Shipyard PRO, the acceptance form was signed between Dr. S Harikrishnan, Director (Operations), Cochin Shipyard Limited and Commander Amit Chandra Choubey, Commanding Officer (Designate), Mahe in the presence of Rear Admiral R Adhisrinivasan, CSO (Tech), Western Naval Command, Cmde Anup Menon, Warship Production Superintendent, Kochi and other senior officials of Indian Navy and CSL.The Cochin Shipyard says the warship has been designed and constructed in accordance with the Classification Rules of Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Cochin Shipyard to launch 3 vessels including Anti-Submarine craft for Navy

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a public-sector shipbuilder, will launch three technologically advanced vessels, including an Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) for the Indian Navy, here on Saturday, the company said. The other vessels to be launched are the Hybrid Electric Methanol-Ready Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) and India's largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger, DCI Dredge Godavari. According to CSL, the triple launch reaffirms the shipyard's leadership in naval, commercial and green maritime segments. "These launch will showcase India's engineering excellence, indigenisation drive and commitment to sustainable maritime development under the Maritime India Vision 2030 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives," the CSL said in a statement. The ASW SWC for the Navy is the sixth vessel built under an eight-ship contract signed in April 2019. CMA CGM Group to build six LNG-powered containerships at Cochin Shipyard

Global shipping and logistics operator CMA CGM Group on Wednesday said it has signed a letter of intent for six LNG-powered containerships to be built at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in line with its fleet renewal and energy transition strategy. This strategic move makes the Group the first major foreign carrier to commission LNG vessels from an Indian shipyard, the company said, adding that the containerships will be delivered from 2029 to 2031. All six vessels will be registered under the Indian flag, each with a capacity of 1,700 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), it said. This demonstrates CMA CGM's commitment to a more sustainable shipping as it can run on LNG and are ready for low-carbon fuels, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the Group's ambition to be Net Zero Carbon by 2050, the company said.
