Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) delivered a better-thanexpected operational performance in 1QFY26, with revenue growth of 9% YoY (strong performance in Ethnics and TMRW) and EBITDA growth of 25% YoY (~22% beat,) driven by 16-24pp improvement in profitability for Ethnics and Luxury Retail.

The demerger between ABFRL and ABLBL became effective from May 1, 2025. The demerged ABFRL reported high-single digit revenue growth and an improvement in profitability across businesses in Q4FY25.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail’s (ABFRL) combined revenue grew 6% YoY, driven primarily by robust growth in ABFRL (demerged). EBITDA increased significantly, driven by improved profitability in Ethnic and Pantaloons and demerger-related adjustments.

Over the last few years, ABFRL has built its portfolio around five key consumption themes – western wear, ethnic wear, masstige and value retail, luxury retail, and digital brands – through organic and inorganic routes.

The growth was driven mainly by Ethnic and TMRW (to be part of demerged ABFRL), whereas growth remained muted in Lifestyle Brands (robust LTL offset by weak wholesale) and Pantaloons (shift in Pujo dates).

Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited (ABFRL) registered good performance in Q4FY2024 with revenue growing by 18% y-o-y, while EBIDTA margin expanded 163bps y-o-y to 8.3%, leading to 47% y-o-y growth in EBIDTA.

ABFRL’s board has approved the demerger of its Madura business into a new
entity – ABLBL, upon the requisite regulatory approvals over the next 9-12
months. In our view, this move should unlock value through better capital
allocation and improved investor interest for the two businesses individually.
