NTPC to establish green hydrogen infrastructure in Odisha under MoU

State-run power giant NTPC on Monday said it has signed an initial pact with GRIDCO and CRUT to set up green hydrogen infrastructure in Odisha. NTPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRIDCO, a Government of Odisha undertaking for Energy and Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), the public transit agency of the state government, on Monday, as per a statement. The tripartite MoU intends to further green energy technologies in Odisha, especially green hydrogen mobility scheme. As per the MoU, NTPC will set up a green hydrogen fuelling station in Bhubaneswar, along with hydrogen buses for short-haul and long-haul operations. This will open an option of phasing out fossil fuel buses in favour clean and green fuels, bringing decarbonisation and energy security. NTPC plans to set up nuclear power project in Bihar, says CMD Gurdeep Singh

Power giant NTPC has plans to set up a nuclear project in Bihar, a move which will increase its non fossil energy portfolio, the company's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Gurdeep Singh said on Thursday. NTPC has also requested the state government for a land parcel at a suitable location to take forward its nuclear plans, he said addressing a session at the 'Bihar Business Connect 2024' summit here. "Looking at the future of the energy sector, nuclear (energy) is expected to become extremely important for the energy sector, 20-30 years down the line. I want to share that NTPC is now entering the nuclear energy space," Singh said. Sembcorp Industries bags 300MW wind-solar hybrid project from NTPC

Sembcorp Industries on Wednesday said it has secured a 300 MW wind-solar hybrid project through its arm Sembcorp Green Infra from NTPC Ltd. The build-own-operate project is part of a 1.2GW bid issued by NTPC, a state-owned power giant, a company statement said. Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly-owned renewables subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Pvt Ltd, has received the Letter of Award (LOA) for a 300MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connected wind-solar hybrid power project (the Project) from NTPC Ltd, according to the statement. Subject to the execution of a power purchase agreement (PPA) and upon completion of the project, power output from the project will be sold to NTPC under a 25-year long-term PPA, it stated. The project is expected to be ready for commercial operation within 24 months from the date of signing the PPA and will be funded through a mixture of internal funds and debt, the company informed.
