Internet suspended in Udaipur after school stabbing sparks communal tension

Mobile internet was suspended for 24 hours in several areas of Udaipur and all schools were ordered to remain closed after a class 10 student stabbed another boy at a government school, triggering communal violence in the city. The student who was injured in the attack is undergoing treatment at the district hospital while the accused is under detention. Both of them are minor, officials said. All government and private schools in Udaipur have been ordered to remain shut until further orders in view of the law and order situation, Collector Arvind Poswal said. No evidence in excise policy case: AAP post CBI files final charge sheet

The AAP on Monday said the central probe agencies have failed to find any evidence in the excise policy case and asserted that it is a "staunchly honest" party. The reaction from the ruling party in Delhi came hours after the CBI filed its final charge sheet in the trial court against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and five others, including AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, in the case. The BJP and its agencies have been investigating this case for two years, filing over 50,000-page charge sheets and interrogating more than 500 witnesses, while conducting raids at multiple locations, the AAP said in a statement. Need to find out practical solutions of problems facing states: NITI member

NITI Aayog member Arvind Virmani on Wednesday made a case for finding 'practical' solutions to problems faced by states, as many of them like Rajasthan and Odisha have done well without getting the special category status. Virmani further said in a democracy one has to recognise specific problems and find out pragmatic solutions. He was responding to a question on the issue of granting special category status (SCS) to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. "There have been committees and commissions which have tried to define criteria for special category status (for states). And again, it is a difficult issue," Virmani told PTI. The economist noted that in the last 30-40 years, "we used to have BIMARU states". "But Odisha for example developed a lot, Rajasthan has developed a lot and things change.
