Judicial commission visits Sambhal to investigate November 24 riots

A judicial commission formed by the Uttar Pradesh government visited Sambhal on Tuesday to inspect areas affected by the riots during the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24 last year and record statements of witnesses. The Commission, formed on December 1 last year, revisited these locations, including the Shahi Jama Masjid area, where the violence occurred. The delegation was accompanied by District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya, Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Vishnoi, and Moradabad police range DIG Muniraj G. The team, led by the Commission members, conducted an extensive inspection lasting over an hour. Farooq Abdullah's convoy car crash: One member of security team injured

A Delhi Police head constable, part of the escort team of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, was injured when the car convoy collided with a nilgai on Delhi-Mumbai expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa district, officials said on Saturday. The accident occurred near the expressway exit in Bhandarej around 1.45 pm on Friday when the National Conference leader was en route to Ajmer. Abdullah was in another vehicle, while the escort vehicle had four police personnel, including head constable Pappuram Meena, officials said. Meena was driving the Innova vehicle when it collided with the nilgai. "The injured head constable was taken to the district hospital where he was given primary treatment and discharged later," Sadar police station head constable Arvind Kumar said. ED summons BRS leader KT Rama Rao in money laundering case on Jan 7

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao and some others for questioning next month in a money laundering case linked to alleged payment irregularities during a Formula-E race held in Hyderabad in February 2023, official sources said on Saturday. The federal agency filed an enforcement case information report (ECIR) or FIR last week in the case under various sections of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), taking cognisance of a Telangana Police Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) complaint. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and son of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Rama Rao has been asked to depose for recording of his statement on January 7, the sources said. Bihar govt increases monetary reward for winners of gallantry awards

The Bihar government has increased the monetary reward for gallantry award winners, and those winning Param Vir Chakra from the state will now be given Rs 1 crore instead of the previous Rs 10 lakh, an official said on Saturday. The Param Vir Chakra is India's top military decoration awarded for the highest degree of valour or self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy. The state government also hiked the reward amount for Ashok Chakra awardees from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 75 lakh, for Mahaveer Chakra from Rs 5 lakh to 50 lakh, for Kirti Chakra from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, for Veera Chakra from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, and for Shaurya Chakra from Rs 1.5 lakh to 8 lakh, according to a notification. 16th Finance Commission team arrives in Nagaland on three day visit

Members of the 16th Finance Commission arrived in Nagaland on Monday on a three-day visit, an official said.
