L&T's competency Center for Automation located in Jebel Ali, Dubai, has won a Rs. 500 crore order from the Qatar Rail Company for the first phase of the Doha Metro.
The Automation firm, also known as the L&T Electrical and Automation FZE (LTEAFZE) has been awarded the contract for a metro project which is expected to be completed in three phases, with the first phase to be completed by August 2018, with the handover of 37 stations. The Phase 1 metro lines are expected to open to the public by 2020, and carry a load of 600,000 commuters a day by 2021. LTEAFZE would be focusing on building, managing and maximising uptime for the metro's automation and control equipment.
