Gokaldas Exports has entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding with Government of Andhra Pradesh for the set up of four apparel manufacturing units, involving an investment from the company of upto Rs. 200 crore. The factories would be set up in Chittoor over a period of three years.
Chittoor already has a dense local textile industry, which dominates the manufacturing space in the region. However the AP government has been pushing for greater investment and jobs in the area, and the factories set up by Gokaldas would potentially generate around 5000 new jobs.
The firm is however, negotiating with the government for additional incentives before it moves ahead.
