Naresh Goyal and Anita Goyal are disembarking from the board of Jet Airways, ending a 25 year long stint for the founders of this airline company. CEO Vinay Dube is expected to stay on. Creditors have been pushing for the exit of the founder couple, which many potential lenders had made a condition for the infusion of more money into the stalling airline. The Goyals had resisted previous efforts to make them exit, including attempts in Feb which eventually sputtered out. 

WIth Jet on the hook for large loans from SBI, the bank may place its own people in the board - former SBI managing director Srinivasan Vishvanathan and former SBI Chairman & ex CVC Commissioner Janki Ballabh may join Jet Airways top management and company board.

The woes of the airline holds a lesson for promoter-founders in other companies, such as Mindtree, where founders are resisting L&T's effort to take over the company by buying up promoter and retail shares in the firm.
