IT services firm L&T Technology Services (LTTS), the technology arm of L&T, plans to hire over 2,500 Indians across verticals in FY18. The company expects industrial products, telecom and hi-tech to be key verticals that will drive growth for the firm.
The news comes amidst media reports of large layoffs across IT majors, with estimates from 50,000 to a lakh plus doing the rounds as Indian IT struggles to cope with a more restrictive environment around outsourcing and global teams. LTTS may be weathering the overall downturn in IT services better due to its focus on engineering and design, boosted by its recent acquisiiton of the California based design services company Essencia Technologies.
LTTS has over 11,000 employees worldwide and over 1,700 based out of the US, and the firm says it plans to expand its hiring in both India and the US geos. LTTS' share price is currently trending below its 150 day average.
