NCLAT rejects Supertech promoter's appeal against personal insolvency case

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has dismissed the plea filed by debt-ridden realty firm Supertech former promoter Ram Kishor Arora against personal insolvency proceedings initiated against him. He had challenged an order by the Delhi bench of the National Company Law Tribunal, which, in February 2025, directed to initiate personal insolvency proceedings against Arora on the plea filed by IFCI and appointed an IRP. A two-member bench of the appellate insolvency tribunal NCLAT said personal insolvency proceedings could not be defended based on another insolvency proceeding going against Supertech under section 7 of the IBC. It is on the lenders to proceed against both simultaneously or separately. Section 95 (1) of the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code allows the creditors to file insolvency proceedings against the personal guarantors. Govt approves Rs 500 cr infusion in IFCI via issue of preferential shares

Business Standard

Domestic financial institution IFCI on Friday said the government has approved Rs 500 crore capital infusion in the company through the preferential issue of shares. The Department of Financial Services has conveyed sanction of the President of India to release funds of Rs 500 crore to IFCI Ltd towards subscription to the share capital during FY 2024-25, the state-owned entity said in a regulatory filing. Following this, the meeting of the board of directors of the company is called on January 29, 2025, to consider the Preferential Issue of equity shares to the central government, subject to the approval of shareholders, stock exchanges and such other regulatory authorities as may be required. With the infusion, the government's holding in the company is expected to further increase from the existing 71.72 per cent as of September 2024. FSIB recommends IFCI's current deputy MD Rahul Bhave for MD, CEO post

FSIB, the headhunter for directors of state-owned banks and financial institutions, on Monday recommended Rahul Bhave for the position of Managing Director (MD) and CEO of IFCI Ltd. Bhave is currently the Deputy Managing Director of IFCI. The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) interviewed four candidates for the position of MD & CEO of IFCI, FSIB said in a statement. "Keeping in view their performance in the interface, overall experience and the extant parameters, the Bureau recommends Rahul Bhave for the position of MD and CEO in IFCI Ltd," it said. Besides, FSIB has recommended Palash Srivastava for the position of Deputy Managing Director in IIFCL. Srivastava is currently the Chief Executive Officer of IIFCL Projects Limited, a subsidiary of IIFCL. The final decision on both FSIB's recommendations would be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
