More than 2 million farmers in Assam get 422 crore under PM-KISAN

Over 20 lakh farmers in Assam have received more than Rs 422 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, officials said on Sunday. The amount was disbursed on Saturday as part of a nationwide programme, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi, a senior official of the Agriculture Department said. "Under the 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme, more than 20.31 lakh eligible farmer families in Assam have received the benefit," he added. As per the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, eligible farming families receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. "Nearly 20.31 lakh farmers across our state have received Rs 422.05 crore directly into their bank accounts under the PM-KISAN scheme. PM to release 19th instalment of PM-KISAN; Rs 22,000 cr for 9.8 cr farmers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday release the 19th instalment of PM-KISAN scheme, transferring around Rs 22,000 crore directly to bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers, as part of the government's effort to enhance income of the farming community. Under this scheme, each beneficiary gets an annual benefit of Rs 6,000, in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 every four months. Addressing a press conference here, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said, "Prime Minister will release the 19th instalment of PM-KISAN on February 24 at a function in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The amount will be directly credited to bank accounts of eligible farmers." He said a total amount of Rs 22,000 crore will be disbursed to 9.8 crore farmers. Farmers seek low taxes, doubling PM-KISAN amount in pre-budget meet with FM

Farmer representatives and agricultural stakeholders urged the government to provide cheaper long-term credit, implement lower taxes, and double the PM-KISAN income support during a comprehensive pre-budget consultation with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday. The two-hour meeting saw a detailed discussion of proposals, aimed at addressing multiple challenges in the agricultural sector, with key demands focusing on financial relief, market reforms, and strategic investments.
