The attorney generals of twenty states in the US have filed suits against six generic drug companies. The companies named include Aurobindo Pharma on price fixing charges.
The suit alleges that the companies conspired to manipulate and fix drug prices for doxycycline hyclate, an antibiotic, and glyburide (which Aurobindo Pharma manufactures), which is used in the treatment of diabetes.Two executives of Heritage Pharma in particular have been charged with colluding with generic companies manufacturing these drugs to fix prices. The executives have reportedly agreed to cooperate with the government in the investigation.
