We recently met R Chandrasekaran, Chief Financial Officer of IG Petrochemicals (IGPL) to get an insight into the dynamic changes of the phthalic anhydride (PAN) industry and the company's outlook, going forward. PAN is a downstream commodity chemical manufactured using orthoxylene, a crude derivative. It is an important intermediate used to produce plasticisers (constitutes ~34% of total demand), alkyd resins (~17%), unsaturated polyester resins (~6%) and CPC pigments (~24%) among others. Plasticisers, in turn, are used to manufacture PVC products...
