A section of the Merck workforce at its pharmaceutical and chemicals manufacturing plant in Goa, have stopped work, while the firm and the workers' union have been engaged in wage negotiations.
The Merck management said that the company is "striving to convince the union" to resume work and continue wage negotiations, ending the standoff. For now however, according to one source, work stoppage is continuing as the wage negotiations have grown acriminous.
