Airtel Business secures multi-year deal for Indian Railways security

Airtel Business, the enterprise arm of Bharti Airtel, on Monday announced it has bagged a multi-year contract from Indian Railway Security Operations Centre (IRSOC) to deliver security services. Airtel will design, build, implement and operate a greenfield, multi-layered cybersecurity protection ecosystem that will serve as a defence barrier to safeguard the Indian Railways' IT backbone, while ensuring uninterrupted, secure and seamless digital operation, according to a release. With centralised security controls, Airtel Business will build multi-layer protection to secure the expansive database of the railways. "Airtel Business wins multi-year contract for the Indian Railway Security Operations Centre (IRSOC)," the release said, but did not divulge the financial details of the order. SC defers Vodafone Idea plea on additional AGR demand to October 13

The Supreme Court on Monday deferred to October 13 the hearing on a plea of telecom major Vodafone Idea Ltd seeking quashing of the additional adjusted gross revenue (AGR) demands for the period until 2016-17. A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran, which was scheduled to hear the plea, was urged by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, that the hearing be deferred to next Monday. The submission was supported by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL). They urged the bench that the plea be heard before Diwali vacation. The CJI allowed the submissions. Earlier, the top court, on September 26, had deferred the hearing to October 6. The VIL has filed a fresh plea against the Department of Telecommunication's (DoT) fresh demand of Rs 5,606 crore relating to the financial year 201617. SPVs with anchor partners to be set up under 60,000 cr PM-SETU scheme

Special purpose vehicles with credible anchor industry partners will be set up under the Rs 60,000-crore PM-SETU scheme to manage clusters and ensure outcome-based training, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said. Under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU), launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, new, demand-driven courses will be introduced in a bid to transform 1,000 government ITIs across India into modern, industry-aligned training institutions. Besides, existing courses will be revamped in collaboration with industries. The scheme will also help create pathways for long-term diplomas, short-term courses, and executive programmes. PM-SETU will follow a hub-and-spoke model, with 200 hub ITIs linked to 800 spoke ITIs. PM Modi unveils initiatives worth over 62,000 cr for youth; Bihar in focus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled various youth-focused initiatives worth more than Rs 62,000 crore, with a special emphasis on poll-bound Bihar. Modi launched PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a centrally sponsored scheme with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore. It envisages the upgradation of 1,000 government ITIs in a hub-and-spoke model comprising 200 hub ITIs and 800 spoke ITIs. "Collectively, PM-SETU will redefine India's ITI ecosystem, making it government-owned but industry-managed, with global co-financing support from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank," a PMO statement earlier said. In the first phase of the scheme implementation, there will be a special focus on ITIs in Patna and Darbhanga in Bihar.
