Gateway Distriparks profit falls 19% to Rs 69 cr in Jan-March 2023

Inter-modal logistics operator Gateway Distriparks Ltd (GDL) on Friday reported a 19.47 per cent decline in its profit after tax at Rs 68.62 crore in quarter ended March 2023. The company had recorded a PAT (profit after tax) of Rs 85.21 crore in the same quarter of FY22, GDL said in a statement. The total revenue during Q4FY23 was recorded at Rs 390.84 crore as compared to Rs 377.04 crore top-line clocked in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year ended March 2022, it said. The rail revenue grew 5.90 per cent to Rs 309.86 crore during the March quarter last fiscal as against Rs 292.61 crore in the same period of FY22. CFS (container freight station) revenue, however, dropped 4.08 per cent to Rs 80.98 crore in the reporting period when compared to Rs 84.43 crore achieved in the March 2022 quarter, it said. GDL also said that rail volumes during the quarter under review were up 3.46 per cent at 93,509 TEUs as against 90,385 TEUs in Q4 of financial year 2021-22, while CFS throughput .

Coastal Road in Mumbai to be named after Sambhaji Maharaj, says CM Shinde

The ambitious coastal road being constructed in Mumbai city will be named after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Sunday. He was speaking at an event organised at the Gateway of India here to celebrate the 366th birth anniversary of Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The coastal road is Mumbai's lifeline and we are going to name it after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. We will also erect a statue of Sambhaji Maharaj on this road, he said. The coastal road being constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) proposes to connect the Marine Drive area in south Mumbai to Kandivali, a western suburb, via the existing Bandra Worli Sea Link. It is expected to ease Mumbai's northbound traffic. Earlier, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar's family members had requested the Maharashtra government to name the coastal road after her.

Few cracks found on surface of Gateway of India in Mumbai: Centre

Few cracks were found on the surface of the Gateway of India in Mumbai during an inspection but the overall structure was found to be in a "good state of preservation", Parliament was informed on Monday. Union Minister for Culture G Kishan Reddy said this in a written response to a query in Lok Sabha. He was asked whether a recent structural audit of the Gateway of India has revealed cracks along the facade. "The Gateway of India, Mumbai, is not a centrally-protected monument. It is under the protection of Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Maharashtra. Few cracks were found on the surface during the inspection. Hackers target Bahrain airport, news sites to mark Arab Spring uprising

Hackers said they had taken down the websites of Bahrain's international airport and state news agency on Tuesday to mark the 12-year anniversary of an Arab Spring uprising in the small Gulf country. A statement posted online by a group calling itself Al-Toufan, or The Flood in Arabic, claimed to have hacked the airport website, which was unavailable for at least a half hour in the middle of the day. It also claimed to have taken down the website of the state-run Bahrain News Agency, which was sporadically unavailable. The group posted images showing 504 Gateway Timeout Errors, saying the hacking was in support of the revolution of our oppressed people of Bahrain. The same group appears to have hacked and changed articles on the website of Akhbar Al Khaleej, a pro-government newspaper in Bahrain, hours earlier. The newspaper's website was still down Tuesday.
