Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M;) reported a 29% yoy rise in second quarter consolidated profit at Rs 1253 crore for second quarter ended September 2016. Net sales rose 16% at Rs 10,172 crore. Good performance at the operational level coupled with declining interest cost helped fuel the bottom-line. Higher tax provision put some brake on the bottom-line growth. Total unit volume sales in the auto sector during the quarter stood at 1,26,180, up 11.5%. Utility vehicles sales were at 52,287 units, up 15.6% from the year-ago period.
