LIVE: Markets close higher, HDFC Sec says accumulate Shriram City
Markets closed higher. Nifty 50 closed at 9958.15 (56.2, 0.6%) , BSE Sensex closed at 33780.89 (242.5, 0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 closed at 8187.40 (50.4, 0.6%)

Market breadth is neutral. Of the 1634 stocks traded today, 789 were gainers and 805 were losers.



Stocks receiving the largest number of broker reco upgrades the past month are Bajaj Auto, Kotak Bank, Lupin and TVS Motor.


HDFC Securities analysts note Shiram City Union's margin pressure but notes improvement in asset quality. It has its recommendation at accumulate.


State Bank of India says it opposes interest waivers on loans during moratorium, saying that it will increase pressure on bank balance sheets and potential NPAs.


Dish TV, Dixon Tech, Lemon Tree Hotels seeing high volumes today.


Phoenix Mills says that three of its malls - Bangalore, Bareilly and Lucknow - have reopened while others remain shut due to state government directives. The firm said that its liquidity position is comfortable, with consolidated debt and cash position (comprising of cash balance, investments and undrawn overdraft limits) as on 31 December 2019 standing at Rs. 46,398 million and Rs. 7,120 million, respectively.

Market breadth is overwhelmingly negative. Of the 1525 stocks traded today, 169 showed gains, and 1321 showed losses.

Largecap and midcap gainers today include Vodafone Idea Ltd. (10.15, 7.98%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (139.35, 7.32%) and Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd. (684.40, 7.29%).

Largecap and midcap losers today include Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (168.55, -4.21%), AIA Engineering Ltd. (1646.45, -3.69%) and Endurance Technologies Ltd. (821.60, -3.48%).
