Markets fall as budget fails to enthuse investors
Indian markets slumped today with no significant decisions detected by investors on the Budget. This is a workman budget, according to analysts, with not much more romance than a balance sheet. Nifty 50 was trading at 11894.15 (-68.0, -0.6%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 40347.63 (-375.9, -0.9%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 9814.20 (-47.3, -0.5%)

Market breadth is in the red. Of the 1577 stocks traded today, 617 were gainers and 862 were losers.

Riding High:

Largecap and midcap gainers today include IDBI Bank Ltd. (38.25, 13.17%), Castrol India Ltd. (142.80, 5.74%) and LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (451.10, 3.06%).

Downers:

Largecap and midcap losers today include NMDC Ltd. (110.20, -5.77%), Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd. (556.95, -4.39%) and Sun TV Network Ltd. (455.00, -4.12%).
