Media reports quoting Govt sources suggest that discussions on lifting the price restrictions on all domestically produced natural gas (including pre-NELP and NELP) have started, and the Govt will eventually decide on freeing them up, as a major reform in the sector. Current timing is considered favorable due to stable oil and gas prices globally. The measure has been suggested by Niti Aayog as well, and a Cabinet note would be finalized soon. However, the move will be gradual, taking three more years to be fully effective, though a portion of a producer's output will be allowed to be sold under negotiated pricing deals within this span....
