Talking about "Farming 3.0", M&M displayed its first ever driverless tractor technology at its Chennai Research Valley, highlighting the vehicle's auto steering, turning and implement lifting capabilities.

The driverless tractor, the company said, would enable the farmer to control the vehicle via a tablet, remotely completing farming and pesticide operations without having to manually navigate the tractor through the fields.  M&M added that the tractor would increase the number of hours that farming activities can be conducted, and will be launched in India as well as international markets.

The company however demurred from providing an exact timeline for the launch, but said that the model will debut in early 2018. M&M is launching the model even as similar autonomous tractors are being developed in the US and Europe for farms, and it is a race to the finish line among companies developing such autonomous tractors for mass-manufacture.
