Odisha to cancel land allotment of defaulting exporters at seafood park

Odisha government has decided to cancel the land allotments made to sea food exporters for setting up there units at the proposed seafood park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar for non payment of land lease amount." Chief secretary has given his nod to cancel the allotments made to 18 sea food exporters for non payment of dues. Only allotments made to Falcon, Magnum and B -One will not be cancelled as they have reportedly deposited their dues. We will take a decision soon on cancelling the allotments", said an official source.Spread over 152 acres of land, the project has been approved under the Mega Food Park Scheme of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries and will comprise of 41 processing units. Odisha seafood park gets Rs 466 cr investment proposals

The seafood park being developed by Odisha at Deras on the city's outskirts has bagged investment proposals worth Rs 466 crore from 20 companies. Among the major companies which have already committed investments for setting up units at the seafood park are Falcon Marine Exports Ltd, Magnum Seafoods Ltd, Utkal Exports and Vizag-based Coastal Corporation Ltd. Falcon Marine Exports will set up the largest sea food processing unit with a capacity of 37000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of sea food and provide 4060 employment opportunities. Sanjeev Chopra, principal secretary, industries (Odisha) said, "The state government has received very encouraging response in terms of investments for the seafood park. This will increase employment in the state as well as create an ideal ecosystem for the seafood industry to flourish in Odisha.
