Singapore-bound Air India passengers face tough time at Delhi airport
    Business Standard
More than 200 passengers on a Singapore-bound Air India plane had a harrowing time at the Delhi airport as they were first deboarded from the aircraft due to cabin temperature issue and were later flown to their destination after a delay of nearly six hours. The flight AI2380, to be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, was scheduled to take off around 11 pm on Wednesday. However, all passengers were deplaned after being seated in the aircraft for nearly two hours as the air conditioning system and electric supply system were faulty, according to a PTI journalist who was on the plane. In a statement on Thursday, Air India said flight AI2380 operating from Delhi to Singapore was delayed due to a cabin cooling issue on ground prior to departure. The passengers, more than 200 in number, were taken to the terminal building and the crew did not provide any specific reason for the decision to deplane them, the PTI journalist said. "Passengers were regularly kept informed of t

Delhi airport likely to reopen runway RW 10/28 from September 16
    Business Standard
Delhi airport operator DIAL is likely to reopen runway RW 10/28 for operations from September 16 after completion of the upgradation works, according to a source. The upgradation works of the runway were postponed in May due to congestion issues. Later, the runway was shut from June 15 for three months. The Instrument Landing System (ILS) on the runway is being upgraded to make the runway CAT III compliant, which will allow flight operations at low visibility conditions during foggy conditions. The source on Monday said the runway RW 10/28 is likely to be reopened for operations from September 16. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the country's largest and busiest airport, handles around 1,450 flight movements daily. It has four runways -- RW 09/27, RW 11R/29L, RW 11L/29R and RW 10/28 -- and two operational terminals -- T1 and T3. T2 is currently closed for maintenance works. The airport is operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL).

DGCA may allow import of aircraft up to 20 years old for commercial flights
    Business Standard
Aviation watchdog DGCA is set to amend norms to allow airlines to import aircraft that are up to 20 years old at a time when global supply chain woes have been impacting plane deliveries. Currently, pressurised aircraft that are up to 18 years old are permitted to be imported into the country, subject to certain conditions. The DGCA has proposed amendments to the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) pertaining to 'Age of Aircraft to be imported for Scheduled/ Non-Scheduled including Charter, General Aviation and other Operations'. A senior official told PTI that the draft CAR proposes changes for pressurised aircraft permitted to be imported subject to certain conditions up to 20 years instead of 18 previously, un-pressurised aircraft up to 25 years instead of 20 previously. According to the draft CAR, pressurised aircraft intended to be imported and used in passenger services (scheduled/ non-scheduled) and general aviation operation, shall not have completed 20 years of age or 65 per
