Tata Motors' total sales rise 36% in August; domestic sales up 41%

Tata Motors on Thursday said its total sales increased by 36 per cent to 78,843 units in August. The auto major had sold 57,995 units in the same month of the previous year. Its total domestic sales increased by 41 cent to 76,479 units in August. The company had dispatched 54,190 units in August 2021. Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 47,166 units last month, as against 28,018 units in August 2021, an increase of 68 per cent. Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market were at 29,313 units last month, as compared to 26,172 units in the same month last year, an increase of 12 per cent, it added.

TaMo completes acquisition of Marcopolo's stake in Tata Marcopolo Motors

Tata Motors on Tuesday said it has completed the acquisition of its partner Marcopolo's stake in their bus body manufacturing joint venture Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd. In December 2020, Tata Motors and Marcopolo had entered into an agreement, under which the homegrown automaker agreed to purchase 49 per cent shareholding of its Brazilian partner for Rs 99.96 crore in the joint venture. The 51:49 JV was formed in 2006. The company has completed the procedural requirements under the share purchase agreement for acquiring the entire shareholding held by Marcopolo SA in Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd (TMML), Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Consequently, TMML has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company from August 29, 2022, it added. The JV had manufacturing facilities in Dharwad and Lucknow for building bus bodies on chassis supplied by Tata Motors and marketed under the 'Starbus' and 'Starbus Ultra' bus brands. Tata Motors signs PPA with Tata Power to develop onsite solar project

Tata Motors has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power to develop a 7.25 Mwp onsite solar project at its commercial vehicle manufacturing facility here. The project will be a significant move to increase the renewable energy portfolio at its manufacturing facility, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. With this project, the onsite solar plant capacity of Tata Motors' Jamshedpur facility will reach 14 MWp, which will generate 442 million units of green electricity having the potential to reduce carbon emission by 3.5 lakh tonnes. This is equivalent to planting 5.6 lakh trees. Commenting on the occasion, Vishal Badshah, Plant Head, Jamshedpur, Tata Motors said, "It has been our continuous endeavour to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve Net Zero Emission goal.
