Tyler James Robinson, 22, of Washington, Utah, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder and other felony offences. Prosecutors are drawing up formal charges that could be filed early next week, when he will make his first courtappearance. Investigators have spoken to Robinson's relatives and carried out a search warrant at his family's home in Washington, about 390 kilometres southwest of Utah Valley University, where the shooting took place. Here are things to know about the killing: What do we know about motive? Authorities have not provided many details about why they think Robinson carried out the attack on Kirk. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said family members told authorities that Robinson had become more political in recent years. They recounted to authorities a dinne

Indian-Americans donate more to Democrats than Republicans: Study
    Business Standard
Indian-Americans overwhelmingly favour Democratic candidates, contributing nearly three times more to their campaigns than to Republicans, a new study shows. The research, titled An Emerging Lobby: An Analysis of Campaign Contributions from Indian-Americans (19982022),was conducted by Karnav Popat and Vishnu Prakash of Ashoka University, along with Joyojeet Pal of the University of Michigan. Study, released in September 2025, analyzed two decades of political donations using Federal Election Commission data compiled by OpenSecrets. During the 2020 presidential election cycle, Indian-Americans donated USD 46.6 million to Democratic candidates compared to USD 16.3 million to Republican candidates. In 2016, only 0.6 per cent of Indian-American contributions went to then-President Donald Trump's campaign. The study found that Indian-Americans' contributions are concentrated in sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and academia, enhancing their political...

What to know about killing of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA
    Business Standard
A 22-year-old Utah man was arrested in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during an event on a college campus, authorities said Friday. "We got him," Gov Spencer Cox told reporters at a news conference announcing the arrest of Tyler Robinson in Wednesday's killing of Kirk at Utah Valley University. He was taken into custody Thursday night and is due in court early next week. Investigators believe he acted alone. Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organisation Turning Point USA, was a top podcaster, culture warrior and ally of President Donald Trump. He led an effort to remake the GOP's get-out-the-vote effort in the 2024 election based on the theory there were thousands of Trump supporters who rarely vote but could be persuaded to do so. His killing was the latest in a string of attacks on US politicians that have targeted members of both major parties. Here's what to know about Kirk's shooting: Suspect is arrested Cox, a Republican, said a fami

Australia approves world-first vaccine to save koalas from chlamydia
    Business Standard
A regulator has approved a world-first vaccine to protect koalas from chlamydia infections, which are causing infertility and death in the iconic native species that is listed as endangered in parts of Australia. The single-dose vaccine was developed by the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland state after more than a decade of research led by professor of microbiology Peter Timms. The research showed the vaccine reduced the likelihood of koalas developing symptoms of chlamydia during breeding age and decreased mortality from the disease in wild populations by at least 65%. The recent approval by Australia's veterinary medicine regulator means the vaccine can now be used in wildlife hospitals, veterinary clinics and in the field to protect the nation's most at-risk koalas, Timms said on Wednesday. We knew a single-dose vaccine with no need for a booster was the answer to reducing the rapid, devastating spread of this disease, which accounts for as much as half of koala .

Trump admin moves to restore Harvard funding, but money not flowing yet
    Business Standard
Harvard University says it has started receiving notices that many federal grants halted by the Trump administration will be reinstated after a federal judge ruled that the cuts were illegal. It's an early signal that federal research funding could begin flowing to Harvard after months of deadlock with the White House, but it's yet to be seen if money will arrive. The government has said it will appeal the judge's decision. Reinstatement notices have started arriving from several federal agencies, but so far no payments have been received, Harvard spokesperson Jason Newton said late Wednesday. Harvard is monitoring funding receipts closely, Newton said. A federal judge in Boston last week ordered the government to reverse more than USD 2.6 billion in cuts, saying they were unconstitutional and used antisemitism as a smokescreen for an ideological attack. The Trump administration started cutting federal research grants from Harvard in April after the Ivy League school rebuffed a lis
