Delhi airport to bar non-scheduled flights during select hours on Aug 15
    Business Standard
Non-scheduled flights will not be permitted to land at or take off from the Delhi airport during specified hours on August 15. An official on Wednesday said the restrictions will be in place from 6 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm on Independence Day. The curbs will be applicable for non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines as well as chartered flights. There will be no impact on scheduled flight operations, the official added. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued by the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) that comes under the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Generally, NOTAM is a notice containing information that is essential for personnel involved in flight operations. While no landing or take-off will be permitted for non-scheduled flights during the specified periods, there will be no impact of the NOTAM on scheduled flights as well as the aircraft operated by IAF, BSF and Army aviation helicopters. A handful of companies do that now, but they had to obtain waivers and certification as an air carrier to deliver packages. While the rule is intended to streamline the process, authorised retailers and drone companies that have tested fulfilling orders from the sky say they plan to make drone-based deliveries available to millions more US households. Business Standard
The Civil Aviation Ministry on Monday said 10 incidents of emergency landings of aircraft due to technical snags have been reported since January 2024. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol also said 171 regulatory audits have been conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) from 2020 till June 2025. Replying to a question, Mohol said that two incidents of turbulence and 10 incidents of emergency landings due to technical snags have been reported since January 2024. "In addition to the above, on 12.06.2025, Air India aircraft VT-ANB declared MAYDAY and eventually met with an accident," he added.
