Maruti Suzuki reports 7% increase in total sales in April at 179,791 units

Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday reported a 7 per cent increase in total sales to 1,79,791 units in April. The company sold a total of 1,68,089 units in the same month last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement. Its total domestic passenger vehicle sales rose marginally to 1,38,704 units compared to 1,37,952 units in the year-ago month, it added. Sales of mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, dropped to 6,332 units against 11,519 units in April last year. Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, rose to 61,591 units from 56,953 units in the year-ago month. Utility vehicles, consisting of Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara and XL6, clocked sales of 59,022 units last month compared to 56,553 units earlier. Punjab Kings' hat-trick hero Yuzvendra Chahal revealed that he relied on his instincts and tweaked his line after observing that the pacers' slower balls were gripping the surface during their IPL clash against Chennai Super Kings. The leg-spinner, who conceded 23 runs in his first two overs, came back to deliver a game-changing penultimate over. Tata Motors sales down 6% at 72,753 units, Kia India sees 18% rise in April

Tata Motors Ltd on Thursday reported a 6.1 per cent decline in overall sales to 72,753 units in April 2025. The company posted the total sales at 77,521 units during April 2024. Total domestic sales were down 7 per cent to 70,963 units last month as compared to 76,399 units in April 2024, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing. Total passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including EVs, were down 5 per cent at 45,532 units over 47,983 units in the year-ago period, it added. Sales of PVs, including EVs, in the domestic market were down 6 per cent at 45,199 units against 47,883 units in the corresponding month last year. The company said its total commercial vehicle (CV) sales last month were at 27,221 units from 29,538 units in April 2024, down 8 per cent.
