HDFC Bank Q1 results: Net profit slips 1.31% to Rs 16,258 crore

HDFC Bank on Saturday posted a 1.31 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 16,258 crore for the June 2025 quarter. The lender had reported a net profit of Rs 16,475 crore in the year-ago period. On a standalone basis, the country's largest private sector lender reported a net profit of Rs 18,155 crore for the reporting quarter, up from Rs 16,174 crore a year ago. Its total income jumped to Rs 99,200 crore in the June quarter from Rs 83,701 crore in the year-ago period. The total expenditure stood at Rs 63,467 crore against Rs 59,817 crore in the same period of the preceding fiscal, as per an exchange filing. The net interest margin narrowed to 3.35 per cent from 3.46 per cent in the first quarter of FY25, it said. The overall provisions jumped to Rs 14,442 crore from Rs 2,602 crore in the year-ago period, the bank said, adding that this includes a floating provision of Rs 9,000 crore. ITC Hotels plans to expand portfolio to over 220 operating units by 2030

ITC Hotels Ltd is aiming at expanding its portfolio to over 220 operating units with more than 20,000 keys by 2030, its latest annual report said. According to the annual report for 2024-25, the company plans to accelerate its growth through management contracts and franchise arrangements. Approximately, 70 per cent of the keys are being operated under management contracts, including franchising, it said. Spun into a separate entity after the demerger from ITC Limited, the company owns brands like ITC Hotels, Mementos, WelcomHotel, Storii, Fortune and WelcomHeritage. "Having achieved considerable scale and market standing, the business pivoted into an asset right strategy to drive growth and reduce the capital intensity of operations," the company said. The focus was also on strong partnerships with asset owners, leveraging brand credentials and providing operational expertise, ITC Hotels said in the report. In the last two years, 30 hotels have been launched under the ITC Hotels

Torrent Pharma seeks CCI nod for 19,500 cr majority stake in JB Chemicals

Ahmedabad-based Torrent Pharmaceuticals has sought fair trade regulator CCI's clearance to acquire a majority stake in in J B Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals in a Rs 19,500-crore deal. After the completion of the deal, Torrent Pharmaceuticals will become India's second most valued pharma company. The development came after Torrent Pharmaceuticals in June this year announced the acquisition of a majority stake in J B Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals in a Rs 19,500-crore deal. "The proposed combination relates to acquisition of shareholding by the acquirer (Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd) in the target (J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd) and the subsequent amalgamation of the target with the acquirer," according to a notice filed with the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
