SBI cuts lending rates by 25 bps after RBI's move; loans to get cheaper

The country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has reduced its lending rate by 25 basis points following the Reserve Bank's policy rate cut, making loans cheaper for both existing and new borrowers.. With the latest round of reduction, the Repo Linked Lending Rate (RLLR) of SBI would come down by 25 basis points to 8.25 per cent. It has also reduced the External Benchmark Based Lending Rate (EBLR) by similar basis points to 8.65 per cent. The revised rates come into effect from April 15, 2025, according to updated rate information on SBI's website. The rate reduction is in response to last week's RBI slashing key interest rate by 25 basis points for the second time in a row to support growth facing the threat of reciprocal tariffs by the US. Besides, the bank also cut deposit rates by 10-25 basis points, which will again be effective from April 15. With the revision, for fixed deposits up to Rs 3 crore, the interest rate on 1-2 year term deposits will be lower by 10 basis

Fintech firm Razorpay launches Turbo UPI Plugin on BHIM Vega platform

Fintech firm Razorpay has partnered with NPCI BHIM Services Ltd (NBSL) and Axis Bank to launch the Razorpay Turbo UPI plugin on the BHIM Vega platform. The solution enables businesses to offer seamless in-app payment experiences, allowing customers to complete transactions instantly without switching to third-party apps. "BHIM Vega -- Razorpay's Partner Businesses can now accept in-app payments, and end-customers can complete payments instantly within the app without switching to third-party apps, reducing friction in online transactions and delivering a high-speed payment experience," a company statement said. NCLAT allows banks to proceed against ex-IL&FS directors not on new board

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has allowed state-owned Canara Bank and Indian Bank to pursue proceedings against former IL&FS directors, who are not part of the new board, to declare them as wilful defaulter. However, the appellate tribunal said those directors who are part of the new board of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) and its various subsidiaries after October 1, 2018, would remain protected. "We are of the view that this protection shall extend to Professional Directors who have been reappointed in IL&FS and its subsidiaries who are the part of the present board. With respect to IL&FS and IL&FS Group...we grant leave to the bank to make an application for proceeding against them," said a two-member NCLAT bench comprising Chairperson Justice Ashok Bhushan and Member Barun Mitra.
