Govt bans manufacture, sale of 35 unapproved fixed-dose combination drugs
    Business Standard
Apex drugs regulatory body CDSCO has directed drug controllers of all states and Union territories to stop manufacture, sale and distribution of unapproved 35 fixed-dose combination drugs that include painkillers, nutrition supplements and anti-diabetics. They have also been asked to review their approval process for such fixed dose combination drugs (FDC) and ensure strict compliance of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and rules. FDC drugs are those which contain a combination of two or more active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in a fixed ratio. The regulator issued the directions after it found that certain FDC drugs have been licensed for manufacture, sale, and distribution without prior evaluation of safety and efficacy, posing a serious risk to public health and safety. In a communication sent on April 11, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Dr Rajeev Raghuvanshi referred to the letter issued by his office on January 2013 where concerns were raise

Pick of bl portfolio for April 13, 2025
    Business Line
For Indian investors, silver linings began to gradually emerge from the clouds as President Trump declared a 90-day pause on the 26% tariff plan and opened the doors to negotiations. There have been positive noises from the Indian government on progress in bilateral trade negotiations as well. While it may be too soon to conclude that this major disruption will blow over, domestically focused sectors such as financials, FMCG et al have been front-runners in this mini rally while sectors such global linkages such as KIT and commodities have been laggards. This may be a sign of sector rotation in the times to come.

FMCG firms may register low single-digit revenue growth in FY25: Report
    Business Standard
FMCG firms are expected to register a 5 per cent rise in revenue with almost flat margin growth in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024-25, according to a report from banking firm BNP Paribas India. The report also lowered the earnings estimates for FY26 for the companies under its coverage, except for Godrej Consumer Products and Emami. However, it sees a "favourable base" in FY26 for the FMCG sector, helped by some near-term positives like the drop in crude price and positive trends for rural growth. "We expect our FMCG coverage revenue growth to inch up slightly from 4 per cent in 3QFY25 to 5 per cent in 4QFY25, led by Marico, which should see strong revenue growth helped by commodity inflation, and recovery in growth for GCPL, led by its home care division," BNP Paribas said in its India Consumer Report April 2025. The inflationary pressure on most commodities continues to be high in Q4, hurting the margins of the companies, though prices for palm oil and tea have eased quarter o
