Recycled PET makers raise concerns about delay in grant of FSSAI licenses
    Business Line
The revised FSSAI guidelines, which should have been in place at least 2-3 months before April 1, 2025 were actually notified only in the last week of May 2025, which has further extended the timelines for licence issuance to more than nine applications pending with FSSAI since December 2024/January 2025, the industry body noted.

All of the chemicals in our tracking universe exhibited a downward pricing trajectory on MoM basis in May 2025, barring Monoethylene Glycol; which exhibited a sharp 9% rise MoM. The price rise for this and the previous couple of months is driven by the uptick in seasonal demand for coolants and anti-freeze products which find use in automobiles. Heavy soda ash registered a price fall of 17% in just a month, owing to fall in demand from flat and container glass end-product segments. We expect prices to continue on the downward trajectory for the near term, post the highs seen in the Covid era. CRDMO companies are witnessing significant tailwinds in terms of growth. Companies...

UK trade body urges continuation of duties on Indian PET plastic imports
    Business Standard
The UK's Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has published its initial findings that a countervailing or anti-subsidy measure on the imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from India be maintained for a further five years. The proposal, published in a Statement of Essential Facts' this week, follows a review initiated in July last year which concluded that subsidised imports of PET are likely to recur if the measure was no longer applied and that injury to UK industry would also be likely to recur. The TRA also found that maintaining the measure is in the economic interest of the UK, a statement notes. Countervailing or anti-subsidy measures are the UK's one of three trade policy tools to counter imports which are causing or threatening injury to domestic industry, the other two being anti-dumping and safeguard measures. Countervailing or counteracting measures address imported goods which are being subsidised by foreign governments. The TRA found that while Indian imports of PET

farmer income and demand for crop inputs going ahead global chemical production. Production in the EU was largely stagnant. Demand continues to remain weak in other key markets, leading to pressure on realizations, especially for agrochemicals. Recent commentaries and outlook of global chemical giants suggest that that recovery is not expected in CY25. We continue to maintain our cautious stance on the sector considering muted demand recovery and pricing pressure, especially for agrochemicals. Out of our coverage universe, we remain positive on Fine Organics, Navin Fluorine and...

In Q3FY25, volume growth remained a primary driver for the sector, however, price realisation has
been under strain due to sluggish global demand, increased competition, particularly from China,
and ongoing global uncertainties. In Q4FY25E, we anticipate that revenue growth for most companies will be driven primarily by higher volumes, with limited margin expansion owing to continued competitive pricing pressure.
