    Anil Ambani offers to appear via 'virtual means' before ED in Fema case

    Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani has offered to appear before the Enforcement Directorate through "virtual means" following summons issued to him under the FEMA for Friday. A statement issued by a spokesperson of the 66-year-old businessman said he has written to the federal probe agency assuring "fully cooperation" in the probe being conducted under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The agency, according to sources, had asked Ambani to appear in person on Friday and get recorded his statement under the FEMA. The investigation pertains to the Jaipur-Reengus Highway Project where the ED suspects that funds worth about Rs 100 crore were sent abroad via the hawala route. The ED has recorded the statement of various persons, including some alleged hawala dealers, following which they decided to summon Ambani, the sources said.     Railway board orders police check of on-board staff after armyman murder

    The Railway Board has directed all the zones to ensure comprehensive police verification of all the on board attendants and staff after a recent incident in which a coach attendant allegedly stabbed an Army jawan to death following an argument over bedsheet. The incident took place on November 4 on board the Jammu Tawi-Sabarmati Express when it was passing through the Bikaner division of North Western Railway zone. In view of the recent incident on one of the trains, it has become even more necessary and emergent to ensure that comprehensive police verification of all on board contractual staff is completed and updated immediately on the CMM (Coaching Maintenance Management) portal, the Railway Board said in a letter addressed to the general managers of all the 18 zones.     Delhi blast: Red Fort metro station to remain close on Wednesday as well

    The Lal Quila Metro Station will remain closed on Wednesday as a precautionary measure following the high-intensity blast near the Red Fort on Monday. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in a post on X, said, "Due to security reasons, the Lal Quila Metro Station shall continue to remain closed on November 12. All other stations are functional as normal." The metro station remained shut for commuters on Tuesday as well, following Monday evening's explosion near the Red Fort that killed at least 12 people and left 20 others injured.     Phalodi accident case: SC seeks response from NHAI, Road Transport ministry

    The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the National Highways Authority of India and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in a suo motu case in connection with an accident in Rajasthan's Phalodi area that claimed 15 lives. A bench of Justices J K Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi issued notice to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the ministry, seeking their replies in two weeks on the cause of the accident. It also asked them to conduct a survey of the area and file a report on the number of dhabas on the highway passing through Phalodi. The bench also sought a specific report on the condition of the highway and the norms followed by the road contractor for road maintenance in Phalodi. The top court recently took suo motu cognisance of the November 2 road accident in Phalodi, in which 10 women and four children died when a tempo traveller rammed into a stationary trailer truck.     Andhra govt to float tenders worth 1,000 cr for road development

    Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister B C Janardhan Reddy on Sunday said tenders for road development works worth over Rs 1,000 crore will be invited soon. He said the NDA coalition government has already taken up road repair works worth Rs 2,500 crore since coming to power, as part of its mission to make Andhra Pradesh pothole-free and ensure smooth travel for the public.
