On 29th June 2016, Wednesday Tata Power announced that it has commissioned a 100 kilowatt rooftop solar plant at Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Ltd. at Bidadi on the outskirts of the city. In a statement the Tata Group said the rooftop plant was installed in a record time period of 21 days on the top of the administrative building of the Japanese auto parts factory in the Bidadi Industrial Estate which is about 30 km from the city centre.
