India eyes rapeseed meal export revival to China as price gap widens
    Business Standard
India is aiming to regain its market share in China's rapeseed meal imports, taking advantage of the commodity's lower price as compared to the international rate amid global supply constraints, industry body SEA said on Monday. Indian rapeseed meal is trading at USD 202 per tonne (Ex-Kandla FAS) as compared to international price of USD 308 per tonne (Ex-Hamburg). This creates a compelling opportunity for Indian exporters. The Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA) has urged Ministry of Commerce to negotiate with Chinese authorities for relaxed import conditions. Currently, only three Indian facilities registered with China's General Administration of Customs are permitted to export rapeseed meal to the Chinese market, it said in a statement. China, a major consumer of rapeseed meal for animal feed, sources most imports from Canada and the European Union, where supplies have tightened and prices have risen. "Given the prevailing supply constraints and rising costs, India now has a

CAIT calls for boycott of Turkiye, Azerbaijan over 'support' to Pakistan
    Business Standard
Traders' lobby CAIT on Friday decided to boycott all trade and commercial engagement with Turkiye and Azerbaijan, citing their recent "support" for Pakistan in the wake of Operation Sindoor. According to CAIT, the decision includes a nationwide boycott of Turkish and Azerbaijani goods, with traders across India halting imports from these countries. The association also stated that Indian exporters, importers, and business delegations will be discouraged from any engagement with companies or institutions based in Turkiye and Azerbaijan. The traders' lobby shared that a memorandum will be submitted to the ministry of commerce and industry and the ministry of external affairs, urging policy-level review of all commercial ties with these nations. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has also declared that the business community will boycott Indian films shot in Turkey and Azerbaijan. Import duty cuts on wine in FTAs could hurt domestic makers: CIABC
    Business Standard
Alcoholic beverage maker's body CIABC on Friday said any import duty cuts in future trade deals on wine could hurt the domestic makers, as concessional tariffs on imported spirit from the EU, US, Australia and New Zealand may flood the Indian market. The Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) also suggested the government to impose a minimum import price clause to prevent inbound shipments of low-cost and low-quality bottled spirits, bulk and bottled wines. It added that the duty reduction agreed by India on Scotch whisky under the free trade agreement with the UK may impact the domestic premium category whisky brands due to the likely influx of lower-priced Scotch whiskies. As per the agreement, India will reduce duty on UK whisky and gin from 150 per cent to 75 per cent and further to 40 per cent in the tenth year of the deal. "If similar duty concessions are granted on other spirits, including wines under future FTAs with wine-producing countries such as th
