    PM Modi meets Australian counterpart; launch Renewable Energy Partnership

    India and Australia on Tuesday officially launched the Renewable Energy Partnership that aims to boost two-way investment in the renewable energy sectors as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese. The two leaders held the second India-Australia Annual Summit on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro during which they reiterated their commitment to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in myriad areas such as defence and security, trade and investment, education, skills, sports, space, mobility and people-to-people ties. Both leaders welcomed the launch of the Renewable Energy Partnership, as agreed during the first India-Australia Annual Summit.     ACME Sun Power, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ACME Solar Holdings, has secured a Rs 3,753-crore term loan from state-owned REC Ltd. The loan has been secured for the development and construction of a 320-MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project in collaboration with SJVN. Wholly-owned subsidiary ACME Sun Power Secures Rs 3,753 crore loan from REC for FDRE projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat, ACME Solar Holdings said in a statement on Sunday. An FDRE plant ensures round-the-clock power supply, assisting power distribution companies (discoms) in fulfilling their renewable purchase obligations and energy storage obligations. The project would be located at high resource potential areas at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan for solar capacity and Bhuj and Jam Khambhaliya, Gujarat for wind sites, the company said. A power purchase agreement has been signed with SJVN and the grid connectivity has also been secured. The land acquisition process is in advanced stages, the company said. Ma

    Govt to set up R&D centre for manufacturing of RE components: Pralhad Joshi

    The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Power, has decided to set up a centre of excellence (CoE) to carry out research and development for indigenous manufacturing of various components required to generate green energy. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said at a press conference after addressing the 'Chintan Shivir' organised here to develop strategies for achieving India's ambitious target of 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity in the next 6 years by 2030. The two-day meeting concluded on Friday. More than 200 parts or components (over 50 per cent of total parts) required to develop electrolysers are being imported from other countries, Joshi said. "So, a centre of excellence (CoE) will be established to carry out joint research and development for indigenous manufacturing of such components," he said. Electrolysers, which use electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, are a critical .

    Power companies should coordinate in electricity production: Khattar

    Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar emphasised the need for power companies to coordinate in electricity production and distribution to provide relief to consumers and prevent losses. Addressing the eighth annual Distribution Utility Meet (DUM) conference here, Khattar highlighted that energy would play a critical role in strengthening the economy and achieving India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. "All electricity companies should work together to ensure that consumers aren't overburdened and that companies avoid losses," he said. Khattar also stressed the importance of increasing power generation nationwide and ensuring energy accessibility across all regions. He underlined the need for a greater focus on green and solar energy to reduce carbon emissions, noting that current energy demand is 250 GW and continues to rise.
