    Parl panel to check insurance sector PSUs, solar corporations's performance

    A parliamentary panel, mandated to examine accounts of central public sector undertakings, will scrutinise the performance of insurance sector PSUs and solar power corporations. The Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU) will also examine the performance of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC). The panel headed by BJP's Baijayant Panda will also evaluate the performance of Sagarmala Development Company Limited (SDCL). With the government's push for renewable energy as the engine of growth, the parliamentary committee will hold a comprehensive performance of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), according to the list of subjects selected by it. The committee selects from time to time for examination such PSUs or subjects as it deems fit. The ministry or the undertaking concerned is asked to furnish necessary material relating to those subjects for information of the members.

    Indian Oil to provide scholarships, medical insurance to para athletes

    Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), Indian Oil Corporation on Thursday promised to provide monthly scholarships and medical insurance to the country's para athletes after their stupendous show at the just-concluded Paris Paralympics. The Indian contingent made history by securing 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze, marking the nation's best-ever performance at the Paralympics in Paris. Pankaj Jain, secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, expressed his admiration for the para athletes and announced that Indian Oil will be further enhancing its support by introducing monthly scholarships, medical insurance, and sports kits for para athletes.     NBCC, MTNL sign pact for Rs 1,600 cr worth housing-cum-commercial project

    State-owned NBCC (India) Ltd has signed an initial pact to develop a Rs 1,600-crore worth housing-cum-commercial project on a 14-acre land parcel owned by MTNL on Pankha Road in the national capital. In a statement on Thursday, NBCC said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) to collaborate and "develop a prominent land parcel of MTNL measuring approximately 13.88 acres located on Pankha Road, New Delhi." This project aims to transform the land into a state-of-the-art residential/ commercial space, leveraging the expertise and resources of both organizations. "The project is valued at Rs 1600 crore approximately," NBCC said. The MoU was signed in the presence of K P Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC, A Robert J. Ravi, CMD, MTNL.
