Olpad Aqua Strengths
Geographical presence
The company serves customers across several Indian states and overseas markets, supported by its South Gujarat procurement network, cold chain and branch infrastructure. It has increasingly shifted from sales through domestic processors, exporters and traders to direct exports, enabling closer relationships with overseas customers and greater control over product specifications and quality
Direct farm procurement
The company has built long-standing relationships with shrimp farmers, enabling direct procurement at competitive terms while providing visibility into farming practices, feed quality and pond conditions. Its batch-wise traceability from farm procurement through transportation, processing and final sale supports quality control, regulatory compliance and customer confidence in domestic and export markets
Asset-light business model
The company follows an asset-light model by sourcing shrimp from farmers in its network and using third-party contract processors for shrimp not sold fresh, without owning farms or processing facilities. This approach reduces exposure to cultivation, disease, mortality, processing infrastructure and crop failure risks, while allowing selective procurement based on quality, grade and yield
Olpad Aqua Risks
Quality standard risks
The company’s business and reputation depend on maintaining consistent shrimp quality and complying with cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards across its operations. Any quality lapse, contamination or loss of required certifications could lead to rejected consignments, customer loss, regulatory action, higher costs and adversely affect its business and financial performance
Price volatility risks
The company’s profitability and cash flows are sensitive to fluctuations in raw shrimp procurement prices, which are influenced by seasonal availability, production levels, weather, disease outbreaks, demand and fuel costs. Significant increases in shrimp prices that cannot be passed on to customers due to market or competitive pressures could reduce margins, profitability and adversely affect its financial performance
Seasonal business
The company’s shrimp procurement is exposed to seasonal variations, adverse weather, natural calamities and disease outbreaks affecting sea catch and aquaculture production. Supply shortages could increase procurement costs, disrupt sales and reduce consumer demand due to quality or contamination concerns, adversely affecting its business and financial performance
