Swiggy is falling sharply as its board of directors approves capping foreign ownership to 49.5% raising fears of an outflow of up to $500 million (~Rs 4,821.7 crore) due to lower weightages in the MCSI and FTSE indices. The move is part of the company's goal to qualify as an Indian-owned-and-controlled company (IOCC), allowing the company to directly own and sell inventory through its quick commerce brand Instamart.
