LIVE: Markets lower, Phoenix Mills at 52 week high

Market breadth moved in favour of buyers in the afternoon, although indices are still lower. About 890 stocks advanced and 859 shares declined on the National Stock Exchange.

  • CFO of Carborundum Universal resigns. His official leaving date the company said, would be after the October meeting considering unaudited financial results.  
  • Real estate company Phoenix Mills hits a fresh 52 week high today. 
  • Markets continue to fall through the day. The S&P BSE Sensex is down 0.86 percent to 37,062 as of 1 p.m. and the NSE Nifty 50 is down 0.87 percent to trade below 11,000. The broader markets represented by the NSE Nifty 500 is lower by 0.75 percent.
  • Fortis Healthcarecredit rating upgraded by ICRA. 
  • Brent crude oil price is up over 9% to $65.6 per barrel following the drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities. Analysts believe the spike in oil prices will not last, as the Saudis say that the damage has been contained. 
  • Graphite electrode companies Graphite India and HEG are rising sharply today, and are among the top gainers in their sector. 
  • J Kumar Infraprojects announces an order win of Rs. 342.13 crore from MMRDA. 
  • Wockhardt, Suven Life Sciences are among the top gainers today.
  • Markets opened on a low note. Nifty 50 was trading at 11010.05 (-65.9, -0.6%) , BSE Sensex was trading at 37123.39 (-261.6, -0.7%) while the broader Nifty 500 was trading at 9006.55 (-44.3, -0.5%)
